Not necessary... just tell us what YOU think, smell, taste, ... or even just whether or not you like the beer and why. And, do jump in and have fun.

I think I preferred the Goldfinger - but I have a second crowler of the Goldfinger and a can of the Dovetail so I'm going to do a side by side later to test that out.

Have a good Sunday. Put in my 2 weeks at circle k last week since I can't stand the job and I should be starting up my engineering job at Volvo Truck this month remotely anyways. Still working on getting the move together to NC. Should have the official news from the contract house this week. My boss has been off for 2 weeks, I had the interview the Friday before he left work. The second interview with the lead engineer was the next week. GF still is too nervous to move out of Ohio right now, but I have to go because Ohio doesn't have any engineering jobs for me or whatever. Never had any luck here my whole life. Got to hang out with one of my friends I haven't seen in a while last night. He was house sitting for his brother and his dogs. I had fun and came home to play chess and Jurassic World Evolution.

Made some leftover fried chicken this morning. Was outstanding.

First full review in over 2 months. Sixpoint Trail Haze. This has been in my fridge since November probably. Great Session NEIPA. Good head retention and lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, passionfruit, pineapple, berries, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, wood, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, woody, herbal, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light bodied and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy malt and sticky hops, light resins. Lingering bitterness with no residual sweetness. Pretty refreshing. No lingering harsh bitterness. Great new world hop profile. Flavorful and good body for the ABV and calories. No complaints. 4

I found that sending beer to everyone in the thread was a GREAT way to get everyone to like the reviews I posted when I started participating in this thread 6 years or so ago.

Seriously, though, just post what you see, smell, and taste whilst you enjoy your beer. This is a pretty fun group.

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass canned on 7/14/21. Pours a cloudy orange with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves thin webs of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is mango, pineapple, mandarin, melon, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows mango, pineapple, mandarin, honeydew, apricot, and a little bitter white grapefruit. 4

Mouthfeel is above medium, soft gentle carbonation, a tad dry, and at 7.4% easy going down with pretty big flavor. 4.25

Overall this is a rock solid beer, not upper tier but good stuff. 4.25

Good afternoon NBS/NBW and thanks @officerbill for hosting this weekend.
Todays offering is from Morrisville Vt, Lost Nation Brewing makes excellent lagers,
and has the best food at a brewery in the area. If you get the chance GO
We have a house saison, foeder aged on peaches with Brett. The only flaw for me was the botle gushed a bit upon openeing. Oh that Brett with fruit!
A very good offering with some excellent expressions.
    Do good

Poured from a 375 ml bottle, with a best in 2 years date.
A - Popped the bottle and a small gusher was the introduction, Active carbonation is free to study in the light straw colored backdrop. A solid whte froth starts, then settles into a thin band of evidence.
S - Brett, up front, oak, then solid summer grain, then fruit peach flesh and some green grapeskin.
T - Wheat, grapeskin, some lemongrass, that ever Brett funky cheese are all rounded out with a bit of tannin from the oak (wine barells) I assume.
M - Crisp on the palate, there some minerality that with the Brett drys things quickly. Finish is ashen in the best way
O - A very good fruited saison. The barrel touch with the Brett add layers of complexity. The peach thread takes some hunting but its there

    Good afternoon NBW
I have odd reasons for picking my NBW beers sometimes. This Sunday, I am drinking tall bottles only to make room for Oktoberfest beers in the fridge.
330mL bottle stamped A 1 05 0 poured into a snifter at just above fridge temp 12% ABV. This bottle is labeled as "Scaldis Caractére", but I believe it's the Amber. The beer pours slightly hazy in a medium amber color. The head is light beige and a thin cap. Slight lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring sweet malt, clove, mild banana and some additional yeasty notes that I can't place. The taste is semisweet malt with hints of orchard fruit. There is a slight alcohol burn in the flavor, but it's well integrated along with moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with higher carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good to excellent. Not a traditional BSPA, but suits my tastes and preferences more than most in the style.

After checking the brewer's website, it would appear that this is their flagship amber renamed once again. I will submit an edit for the BA page.

    Cheers all!

A lazy Sunday, watching Olympics, kind of dozing off.
I was looking forward to trying this beer from Oxbow, because of the many fine memories I have of them from when we lived in Maine. Sadly, this one didn't do it for me.
The beer is a yellow color with a little haze. There is a small, quickly disappearing white head.
Faint aroma of grain and herbs.
    The taste follows the nose.
A little peppery in the mouth.

Thanks @ChicagoJ, it is an excellent Kölsch just like everything I’ve tried from Docetail! Looking at the time I can finish this Dovetail Lager, thanks @FBarber, and sober up before I’m on the road to go see Rise Against tonight. Pumped to see live music for the first time since November 2019! Anyways on the to beer.

Hedison’s Medison an Imperial India Pale Ale brewed by 4 City Brewing Company in Orange NJ. 4 City opened about 2 years ago. Most small breweries in NJ are are located in the suburbs. 4 City in in an urban area. it also has minority ownership. In an case they brew good beer. Hedison’s Medison is a standard IIPA, 9% ABV, it pours a bit Hazy with a thick and lasting white head. Like most IIPA a this brew is about the hops. It is quadruple hopped with Strata, Mosaic, and Citra Cryo. There is a very fruity aroma and taste. There is some malt flavor also. The mouthfeel is full the finish off dry and lasting. A very good IIPA.

Very, very attractive beer. Burned orange in color, but what really stands out is the gorgeous head. Dense, foamy & long lasting with extensive lacing. Aroma has lots of citrus & tropical notes, with orange being what jumps out at me the most.

Taste has more of the tropical / citrus notes with the hops working well together. The orange detected on the nose is not present on the tongue, although some hints of grapefruit do come through. Amazingly full mouthfeel. Good beer.

@WunderLlama I've yet to visit Oxbow, despite the fact that my in-laws live 20 minutes from Damariscotta (near Pemaquid Point lighthouse) and I'm a huge fan of saisons. Inexcusable on my part, but glad you were able to visit.

Poured from a 12oz can dated 6/28/21 at fridge temp to a Nonic.
Hazy gold body sits below a 1" white head that provides medium lacing through the session.
    Smells of musty stone fruit.
Sweet front, mildly bitter finish. Peach in between.
    Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
Overall, okay for the price and ABV.

Good morning (for me!), Weekenders! Starting off with something light.

Firestone Walker Feral One (Batch 004)

Summary: this is really damn good, and really damn straightforward and simple. It's an oak aged wild ale: no fruit, nothing crazy. Mildly sour and moderately funky, it reminds me of a gueuze, minus the dry finish and with less earthy, cheesy funk. It's the kind of wild ale that funk aficionados will enjoy, but it's approachable enough that I think even novices can appreciate - which is honestly a bit surprising.

Nose and flavor match: pear, white grape, oak, vanilla, leather, tannins, and tea. Again: straightforward. The biggest surprise is that there are no surprises.

I like this one a lot.

Next up courtesy of @MacMalt is Peach Melba Pie Attack, peach melba inspired beer from Magnify Brewing. Fruited sours are very hit or miss for me, as I find too many brewers just throw in a bunch of crap that (for my palate) end up lacking refinement and are just a bit too over the top.
No such problem with this one. This was really good.

    4.04/5 rDev 0%

Color is 100% the color of grapefruit. What stood out to me was a denser and more lively head than I normally see with fruited sours. Aroma is sweet with the ingredients (peach, raspberry, graham cracker, marshmallow) all detectible. It's not over the top, which I mean as a complement. Let's hope the taste continues in the vein.

Taste is sweet, and does in fact largely follow what the nose foretold. What I like about it is that it still maintains some balance. No element of it is overdone. Sweet, but with some sour lurking. It all works well together. Very good beer for a beautiful summer day.

Wiseacre Lord Skylark Earl Grey Tea PA, 6.0% ABV; 3.83 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with 2+ fingers of billowy cream colored head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Breadyness, a little grassyness, some tea notes

T: Sweet breadyness, a little lime, some pine & tea notes up front. Stronger tea notes mix with dryness, plus pine. Finishes with tea astringency, dryness & some bready notes

MF: Medium body, soft carbonation, decent balance

Delivers on the promised ingredient, just doesn't do much for me in this beer style
