When you've been awake since 3:30, it's kind of really a lunch beer now, isn't it?

Good morning @Roguer . Almost thought I had a chance to start the WBAYDN tread! I'm on vacation in Siesta Key. Still wake up at work time though. Is it a bad thing to start the day with a Belgian strong ale? Did it any way. St. Benardus Abt. 12 is another beer I ask myself why I don't drink it more often. Going to have to add it to my winter beer list. Smooth, complex, and delicious. Nice start to my last full day. Enjoyed a beautiful Siesta Key sunset last evening. Hoping for another this evening. Cheers all. Enjoy your day!

4:30 am for me. It's like clock work almost and I'm vacationing! I'd don't usually have a beer at this time, but what the heck! Why not?

Mrs. Z’s doctor’s appointment in Clearwater was moved to Monday (they didn’t tell us), so I’m finishing up last night’s bottle - Cycle Brewing’s “Cuvee - Just Chili Pepper”, a BBA Stout:

Bottled 2020, released 2021. Poured at 59°. Perfectly fine the next day, using a stopper/vacuum seal. I could go for a little more heat from the hot peppers; otherwise, another very good BBA Imperial Stout from Cycle. Cheers y’all and have a walloping Wednesday!

Good day advocates! Keeping very busy these days. Just enjoyed a lovely drop from Pipeworks: Mosaic On Repeat Hazy IPA. 2 hops. Mosaic and Cryo Mosaic. It is bright, tropical, fast, moderately drying and fairly light. 7.2%ABV is invisible. Splendid! Now it's 5 hours of lawn grooming and at some point I'll take a break and have yet another new beer. It's going to be the GABF bronze medal winner from category 7/herb & spice beer. It is called Stranger In The Alps from Fair State/Threes collab. Looking frwd to it! I'm leery of uploading images. Cheers! Keep on smiling!

My first one today is Numero Uno Mexican Lager from Flying Dog. It's a bit of a disappointment from a brewery I generally like. There's advertised corn and lime, but they're not appetizing. And the agave seems to be missing. Oh well, they can't all be winners. I rated it 3.33, a good chunk below its BA average of 3.51.

Today's second is Iron Hill Oktoberfest Lager. It's full of malty notes. Bread and caramel with light hoppiness on the nose that gets lost in the taste. It's pretty damn good, I rated it 3.92 just a bit above its BA average of 3.82. And best thing is it's a 16 ounce can that was in a build your own six for $11.99 section.

Expanded discussion in the Oktoberfest tasting thread. Long story short, I'll continue to turn to this beer each Oktoberfest, one of the best around.

Speaking of the best, I met Pat Morita and he is even cooler / more awesome in real life.

Play hard White Sox, you're also the best around!!!

Day off work, so I only spent an hour at work. Hey, there were samples to try.
Now I'm home, and trying this.

This beer pours a nice somewhat murky amber color. I wasn't doing an aggressive pour, but there's a ton of carbonation in this beer. It took a long time to fully pour this beer into the glass. The head was a bit off white, it was fluffy looking, and decent retention with nice lacing on the glass.
The nose has a nice malty caramel, toffee biscuit aroma.
Flavor - There's a nice malty, bread, biscuit caramel/toffee flavor. There is, however, a very heavy hop flavor as well, that's quite bitter. It just doesn't seem to fit in.
The body is decent for the style, however the bitter feeling lasts, and isn't pleasing to me.
I'm a fan of IPAs, and do like bitterness in that style. I'm not a fan of it in fest-biers. This just doesn't work in my book. Maybe I'm wrong?
