Made it to Full Throttle Bottle shop in Georgetown. Amazing selection of bottles/cans. Bought 10 cans (x2) of wet hops. Pulled out of the parking lot and Great Notion was right there. So I stopped in for Merry Dankster/Ripe 4pks. Otherwise I hit up Fremont/Reubens/Cloudburst. All great. For those going to Great Notion don’t bypass Full Throttle. Excellent selection to go, plus drafts.

Thanks to everyone for putting together the good info in this thread. I’m headed to Seattle for a work trip tomorrow, staying downtown at the Fairmont. Unfortunately my downtime is pretty limited, and I doubt I make it to another neighborhood - will probably be at work dinners until around 9pm and have to be up early most days, so I’m really just looking to go on a short walk to decompress and stop somewhere for a beer or two.

Are there any good breweries or bars downtown that stay open late on weeknights? Most that I have looked at close early, although Flatstick appears to be open until 1am. Is there anything else? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Teku Tavern isn't far away, but they also close at 9pm on Tuesday. Looks like they're open until 10pm the rest of the week, though. Pine Box is just a short walk/uber ride away and they're open until midnight.

Grabbing some cans from Cloudburst when you have a second and then drinking them in your hotel room is perfectly acceptable, fyi.

As a reminder, though, bring a tote bag/backpack/messenger type bag. Seattle has had a bag ban for a few years, and as of Oct 1, the ban on reusable plastic bags is statewide. You'll need something to carry your haul in.

Yes. We found out on Oct in Fred Meyers store no more plastic in WA.

Missed your posts about Kent as I was in Portugal until last night, but if you're back there in the future aside from Brewmasters Taproom there is CRFT Beer in Auburn and Cosmic Bottles in Covington. By going to Airways you easily found the best brewery in South King County.

I saw the CRFT but FTB was on way back to SEATAC from my daughters place near the University. Thx

Do they not allow paper bags either?

Yes, but I don't think many breweries will stock them. Maybe the bottle shops will, but they can charge, I think $.08 each for them. And, it rains here. Someone who flies in, then Ubers to their hotel isn't gonna have much fun trying to tote a bottleshop score back to the room in the rain with a paper bag. Most folks around here carry a backpack/messenger bag anyway. Bellingham and Seattle have pushed the usage of reusable for such a longtime that I honestly don't leave the house without at least a tote bag. I've got a couple nylon ones that stuff into a little pouch and fit in the pocket of my rain jacket easily.

No problem. I always carry my backpack when I go out. Just in case I need extra room my 24can cooler comes along for the ride.

Being as it's getting towards near the end of the year, maybe we should start posting some suggestions for the 2022 thread. I don't know if there's any new, notable openings or closings, so maybe it's not needed.

Lad and Lass in the U District.
    Halcyon in Greenwood.
    Bale Breaker/Yonder in Ballard.
Pour Decisions (Crucible Brewing) in Crown Hill.
    Outpouring Bottle Shop in Ballard.
Fast Fashion brew facility (and maybe taproom) coming to SoDo next year.
Chucks adding a third location in Seward Park.

I’ll keep a running list and work on a new thread in January.

Heading down later this month. What’s the current situation like? Are places generally open regular hours? Limited capacity?

Most places have fairly normal hours now, although website hours are still sometimes off--I would check IG to see if they've posted any recent hours changes. Very few places are limiting capacity in any significant way, and those that do typically make up for it with additional outdoor (covered) seating.

What westlaunboy said, but make sure you bring your proof of vaccination with if you plan on sitting inside anywhere.

Can't remember if I mentioned it here, but The Shambles might be closing. The owners had a buyer lined up but things didn't work out as expected and if they don't find someone to take over by the end of the year, Christmas Eve might be the last night.

Family who live in Kirkland want to bring me beer here in SF. Any recs on top West Coast IPAs brewed in the Seattle area? HUGE fan of Seapine when I was there 2+ years ago.

You’re about to be blown away. Kirkland’s signature brewery is right around the corner from your family. They’re all outstanding, but my favorite is https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/21516/138131/

Your family should be prepared for lines like Tree House, though, demand is high.

Seapine cans their beers now so thats a good bet. Stoup and Georgetown also make solid West Coast canned options regularly. Chainline is in Kirkland I and I like their beer, so thats another good one in cans.
