Not to undercut you, but Boston has 30k+ and NYC has 50k+. Chicago had 45.9k the year I did it. Chicago had Goose Island and Mikkeller Running Club represented on course. Boston is a week or so after the big cask festival in Boston.

Mikkeller Running Club is the only brewing or beer interest group (that I know of) that sells beer branded running gear - and high quality gear at that. Reduce the chafe, and improve the beer interest.

I'm happy to discuss more. Likewise, I'm in California here in a bit for work. I'd gladly meet up to discuss over some pours. Bonus is those would all be new-to-me pours

Yeah, there's a helluva lotta moving parts, but, it ain't impossible. Aim at a spring/summer 2023 event, we can make that happen.

Next up is a beer sent from @FBarber as part of the BIF #14. Super Slug from Half Acre and Hop Butcher. Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice murky orange with white head. Head clears away pretty quickly. Looks thick!

Nose: Tropical fruit immediately. Mango, papaya, pineapple, and a bit of banana. Citrus peel balances the tropical fruit nicely. This is just a really inviting smell. After several sniffs, I start to pick up a vanilla note. Also getting a grassy/earthy note.

Taste: Wow. This is really good. It starts with tropical fruit and ends with a resin/pine note. There is a spicy kick on the back end as well. Hard to describe, but it comes after the pine. The fruit is a bit different from the nose. Not getting as much mango. More papaya and grapefruit. This is smooth and incredibly well-integrated. For someone who doesn't drink a lot of IPAs, this is one I would get.

Overall and mouthfeel: Creamy mouthfeel. 8% ABV is not detectable. Overall, one of my favorite hazy IPAs.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

This is delicious! Thanks for sending, Frank!

Totally! There are definitely some big ones! Even Berlin, London, and Tokyo would be great. Good way to expand the advertising to other countries. It seems that breweries do a good job at integrating themselves into marathons, but BA would be a bit different? @Todd is pretty local, so maybe we could all meet up?

My second comes from the 3rd box that @ovaltine sent me in NBW BIF #14 - the man is unrelenting!
DDH IPA from Transient named Indestroyable. Not sure if it's referencing anything, but as a beer, this is really good.
Poured completely opaque the color of apricots and was topped with eggshell white foamy head. *Looks* like a NEIPA.
The aroma says different; sure it's got the hoppyness (is that a word?) and some fruit, but he fruit is subtle and not citrus - more like mangos and cantaloupe. The hops definitely take the lead.
The taste follows - almost. Mangos and/or guava lead by a hair, hops charge forth and make their presence apparent. Taste starts juicy but never makes it there- the DDH dries out the taste and dank prevails.
The feel is most interesting; like the taste, it starts out one way, smooth and fruity, and the swallow takes it to dry - like a dry red wine or something. I'm sure there's a term but I don't know it.
OA, despite my lack of ability to describe this, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Michael, it was a very thought provoking and tasty beer!

While dreaming of marathons, and finally "finding" a team to represent for those efforts, I decided to visit the second variant @Coronaeus sent me. I haven't run for a team since 2015, and I'd like to change that.

Third Moon's Chocolate Monocle with Almonds.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Liquid sits still in the glass, forming a murky glass of black ink. Aroma is roasty, toasty, and caramely malts with hearty milk chocolate, soft vanilla bean and almond. The twangy nut notes are reminiscent of the air quality in an old school ramen venue. It leads with sweetness, but is followed by hearty malt notes that ground it. Flavor profile features the same twist, leading with roasty and toasty malts that linger throughout. Dancing atop the malts is milk chocolate, lactose, almonds, and pine tree nuts. It leans sweet throughout, but is brought back to reality just slightly at the end via almond. Mouth feel is somewhere between whole milk and almond milk, driving that full consistency forward at the start before breaking away ever so slightly for bold nuts at the end. Overall, a bold and expressive stout that drives malt notes just as hard as additive notes. It's not overly sweet, and yet it owes some of its sweetness to the additives. Despite that, it's quite a pleasant blend and balance to sip. Almond adds that swell of sweetness around the edges that keeps it from skating off the edge.

    Score: 4 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.25 | 4 | BA Score: 4.13 | rDev: 5.9%

I have friends who have three smooth blue merles who I find as beautiful dogs. I don't think I ever considered they (blue merles) could be rough. Damien Bleu was a very good looking dog!

Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 02/18/21. Pours pitch black with barely any head leaves a few streaks of lace and the mocha head settles very quickly. 4

Aroma is pecan pie, vanilla bean, cocoa, and a hint of coffee. 4.5

Taste follows pecan, cocoa, vanilla, and coffee. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, gentle carbonation, a tad dry, and at 13.3% it drinks big but goes down easy. 4

Overall the flavor is exceptional but the body and look are a little better than average. Still a very nice beer experience. 4.25 Modern Times Cosmic Entity. Sleep well all.

The challenge I have with French Toast beers is the perceived need to dump far to much cinnamon in - but you don't mention it at all so perhaps they figured out that not everyone likes cinnamon in beer.
Now on a plate of actual French Toast, that's a different story!

    Lagunitas - Unrefined Shugga.

12oz bottle served in a tulip. "301 1 1" is on the neck of the bottle, which I think translates to bottled on 2021-10-28.

Pours a clear toffee color with a huge head, creamy, long lasting. Smell is grapefruit rind, floral resin bitterness, and toffee and sweetness.

Taste is caramel and toffee sweetness, tons of citrus bitterness, really the whole story is just bouncing back and forth between the two extremes. It's a balance like two elephants on opposite sides of a toothpick.

Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and clean for the strength and sweetness, though still somewhat sticky. Overall, I'm really liking this beer.

I have a bottle of this from the 70's. Picked it up at a German bottle shop. If we meet up at some point, I'll bring it along and we can taste it together!
