Looks like AB-InBev has a new logo:

At the time of the buyout and new AB-InBev logo, I thought it looked as if the eagle was saying "I'm gettin' the !@#$ outta here..."

:thinking_face:I have a vague recollection of some legal difficulties between D, G. Yuengling & Son and Anheuser-Busch over the eagle but don't remember exactly when (circa 1850s-2000s?) or if I'm just making it up. IIRC, in the US alone there have been close to a dozen "Eagle" breweries over the years.

A cold Bud is really decent and very easy to drink. We have a few eagles breeding around here, but it's been the two ospreys and pair of cormorants that garner most of my attention. Other than the snow that's falling freely out my window. Bud is a Belgian/Brazilian thang, ya''ll.

That second eagle looks like a love child of the Bud eagle and Guinness toucan….

I guess it looks bad for the large corporations who contribute significantly to global warming to use symbols from nature.

From the original artistic logo that, to me, represents strength and freedom. Something...American.
To this AB-Inbev POS logo that looks like a high school student made for a project. It doesn't even look like it represents anything beer related or anything that has anything at all to do with quality.

    Pathetic and sad.

    Never liked Budweiser, never will.

I hope they're so proud of this that they'll slap it on every label they own. It'd make it a lot easier for me to tell what not to buy.

At least they won't have to redesign it if they decide to start buying out toilet paper companies.

I think you identified the problem with the eagle -- it's an American symbol. Inbev is an international company and Bud is an international brand. In any case, the new logo lacks ... everything.

Yeah, I'm sure the A w/Eagle will remain the logo of Anheuser-Busch Companies, LLC, which is technically the US subsidiary of parent Anheuser-Busch InBev.

AB-InBev should switch to the Clidesdales logo for marketing (realize it’s specific to Bud marketing) and let Yuengling have the Eagle. InBev isn’t American owned anymore so take away the bald eagle as it’s American symbolism. I’m probably alone here, but I like the image new eagle pic better than the old one. More majestic soaring in the sky. The old one looks like an eagle sitting on a nest squalking with contorted neck. Just kinda weird looking IMO. I do like the old German symbol for A though.

You absolutely nailed it with your observation. It's simply not cool to be American and proud of it anymore.

InBev - the 2004 merger of the Belgian Interbrew and the Brazilian AmBrew - was never American-owned and AB's use of the eagle was likely also influenced, as were some of the other German-born US brewers', by the German federal eagle symbol. The Budweiser label's eagle once looked quite different (and even more similar to Yuengling's).

A good example of a very Germanic looking eagle on a beer label was on Detroit's Goebel Brewing Co's labels, which they changed during WWII to an "Americanized" version.

But AB-InBev is a multinational company - their US subsidiary, Anheuser-Busch, which often "waves the flag" (sometimes to the point in which Samuel Johnson's quote comes to mind) in their promotional material will no doubt keep their A/Eagle logo.

When I was about 5 years old I would ride with my Dad to The Longbranch over on Lawndale Drive. There was a dusty old Budweiser poster that depicted Custer's Last Stand.and it always fascinated me. I had a very early love of history. This was circa 1954. I had a hotdog and a coke and my Dad had a Schlitz. The business is still operating and the last time I had an ice-cold returnable Bud (1988?). That poster was still there.

Supposedly, (according to the AB history, Bitter Brew) in the 1890s Adophus Busch found the original huge oil painting ( 9' X 16') called "Custer's Last Fight" in a bankrupt saloon which owned him money, so he got the painting and then paid $35k for reproduction rights, and then had another artist make a copy "with more blood and scalps". By the middle of the 20th century it was estimated AB had distributed close to a million copies of their lithographed reproductions.
(IIRC, there's lot more info and pics on the 'net).

That name sounds familiar. Were they the first to start liquid dating their beers?
