I believe so which I find to be kinda weird since in the past they used a five year best by duration.

Maybe the 'new' brewing staff at Victory forgot this aspect?

    Cheers!

Mine say Best Before Oct 14 2022, so I'd assume so. These particular bottles are still pretty vibrant and hoppy for 3 months, which is how I'd prefer to drink them, so I just may take it a month at a time and see when there's a significant drop off.

Favorite style by far, but not finding much packaged or distributed here this winter. Nothing on shelves but cricket farts since Bell’s reliable third coast old ale in the fall. Plenty of Sierra Nevada around but rarely Bigfoot. Booooo.

Speaking of, catching up on BYO issues I just read that Bigfoot is open fermented in pressurized rooms to let the yeast be their best selves. Can’t be many made that way.

Not much available locally here either, just Bigfoot. I've turned to mail order. Tavour has had a few and I've done orders from Jackie O's, Hair of the Dog, and holiday wine cellar. Got a well stocked basement now!

I didn’t know Jackie O’s ships to Pennsylvania — not sure whether to thank you or curse you, but this is one time I’m grateful for PA’s wacky shipping limits. Just ordered a barleywine, wheatwine and some stouts I’ve been interested in for years.

I have ordered from Hair of the Dog before. My understanding is that they’ll work with folks to ship just about anywhere. Highly recommended if people are looking to treat themselves.

lol, both are fair. I've never encountered shipping limits to PA before. Which Barleywine did you get? I got all four they had plus the wheatwine with and without nuts.

I got the Bourbon Barrel Brick Kiln, a couple of the Wood Ya Honeys and a cuvée (plus some stouts). :beers:

I was just kidding. Usually when someone orders a beer with nuts, the bartender gives them a small bowl with their pint.

Well, that was a thing of absolute beauty. When my carboys overflow it doesn’t rinse away nearly that neatly. But I could damn well smell that video. Thanks!

Haven’t had success getting any beer shipped to this Handmaid’s Ale of a state. Wonder if I’d have any luck getting a P.O. Box across the cheddar border…

Barrel aged English Barleywines are by far the best usage of a barleywine.

American Barleywine is usually offensively hoppy even after barrel aging.

Revolution barrel aged barleywines are crazy good. Especially straight jacket. Don't know a better barrel aged english barleywine to be honest. The price point and format are perfect; less than $25 gets you four 12oz cans?

No one else can match Revolutions price, format, and quality for Barleywine. If you have never experienced straight jacket and you like barleywine... just do it. It's also easy to trade for if it's not on the shelf near you.

Away w my son for basketball in Ft. Wayne and found this brewery 2Toms. Never been there before. Was very impressed w their beer. Picked up a few bottles of this BA Barleywine, Cooper. 15% ABV. Nose is sweet raisin, figs, and bourbon. Mouthfeel is slick and heavy. Taste follows the nose w lots of raisins, nuttiness, and a smooth bourbon finish on the posterior palate. Overall this is an excellent example of style. My only criticism is it is a little on the sweeter side. Reminds me of the OG BC Barleywines in the old 12 oz bottles. Also picked up their BA stout w vanilla beans that was also excellent on tap.

Can't agree with #2 enough. Tiny tasting portions do not allow for a true tasting of all that a beer, particularly a barleywine, offer.

Two of those in one sitting at 7.5%, and as malty as that beer is, that's almost like drinking 12 oz. of a Scottish barleywine.
