From Melvin Brewery's 10 Barrel Brew Pub in Eureka MO; Galactic Compass DIPA, 8.0% ABV; 3.98 overall

Pours a hazed gold with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Great lacing * above average head retention

S: Slight breadyness, green melon & mango

T: Follows the nose, dry, a little bit of orange & grapefruit up front. Oranges, passion fruit & grapefruit as this warms, along with some lime & powdery dryness. Finished dry with lime, green melon, a little grapefruit & passion fruit

MF: Medium body, soft carbonation that turns creamy, nice balance

Juicy West Coast DIPA with Motueka, Citra & Galaxy hops in this offering. Drinks easy, ABV is well concealed

My last new beer for this weekend. Tow Truck Tripel from Garage Brewing.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours a nice golden yellow/orange with a LOT of white head. The nose is candy, oranges, wheat, honey, and a funky bitter note. A bit of orange creamsicle. A touch of clove oil, and a hint of caramel.

The taste is not quite in line with the nose. Much more bitter. Almost a touch off-putting for a tripel. There is a nice hint of toffee and honey, with a strong floral note. The middle and back end are a bit dominated by bitterness. It's not a hop bitterness - it's a bit funky, but not in a great way. Strange. There is a spicy note that starts coming through - pepper and something else I can't put my finger on.

Mouthfeel is fairly light and dry. Overall, it's an interesting beer, but not one of my favorites for the style. Wouldn't buy again.

Good evening everyone! Kids are in bed and Im getting some work done in preparation for a busy monday, but I wanted to try to sneak in a couple more reviews this evening. This next one comes courtesy of @BBThunderbolt - Boundary bay Brewing Co & The North Fork Brewery - Sticky Trees it is a hazy IPA brewed with spruce tips.

Pours a dark brownish tinged orange color. Thin, weak white sudsy head forms on the beer before quickly dissipating. Some splotchy foam remains on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of mango, orange, citrus, and light piney notes.

Taste has notes of orange, mango, some biscuit malt notes, pine and an overripe melon flavor. There are some light piney notes, but it is not overly strong. Feel is medium to fuller bodied with very light carbonation giving it a somewhat heavy feel.

Oveall a solid NEIPA. I did like the usage of the spruce tips in this hazy - would not mind seeing more of that.

    Heater Allen's Zwickelbier.

16oz can served in a tulip. Dated 03/18/22. Picked it up last weekend at Bottleworks.

Pours a hazy light amber. Medium sized head that turns into a fairly even skin with a few lumpy islands. Moderate to light active carbonation. Smell is light, grainy, nutty, slightly floral.

Taste is much more intense than the aroma. In your face grains, lots of grassy bitterness, more toned down nuttiness, and the floral note is louder but still in the background. Bitterness and nuttiness build together, and actually enhance the sweetness a bit as I keep sipping.

Mouthfeel is medium to light. Overall, this is a very nice beer.

I enjoyed this IPA from Burdock a little earlier this evening. It was surprising in that Burdock tends to lean towards sours/wine and beer hybrids or lower ABV beers. They make IPAs, but they tend to be just decent enough to be forgettable. This one is doubly interesting in that the brewery has added 50 of their favourite web links to the can label.

Pours a dull opaque straw with ample head. Moderate lacing as the beer is consumed.

The aroma is varied. Mild stone fruits - peaches and apricots. A hint of dankness. Bright.

Taste follows closely. Stone fruit flavours from the hops dominate. Some grassy notes.

The body is on the lighter side. Fairly crisp. I doubt any adjunct grains were used.

I really enjoyed this. A very light and refreshing IPA with just enough from the hops to make it interesting.

    Surly 2022 Barrel Aged RIS ( Darkness ), 12.0% ABV; 4.18 overall

Pours a very effervescent cola/mahogany color with one finger of caramel colored head. Some head retention, no lacing

S: Dark fruit, molasses, a touch of Bourbon barrel, a lot of this fades as it warms

T: Bourbon barrel, dark chocolate, vanilla & oaky dryness up front & some caramel too. Oaky dryness, molasses, vanilla, cola & dark chocolate as this warms, some woody hops. Finishes with a Bourbon flourish, caramel & a little leafy hop

MF: Chewy, warming, restrained carbonation. Carbonation picks up a bit as this warms

Great take on the style. Was hoping for more nose, my big letdown from this beer. If it matched the flavor, we are talking a different scenario. Close to perfect then

Next up is another from @BBThunderbolt - Seapine Brewing Co. - Mosaic Pale Ale.

Pours a darker orange color, completely opaque with a thick four finger white frothy head. Lovely thick white lacing coats the glass. Aroma has notes of mango, gentle citrus, nectarines, orange, lemon, and some dank notes.

Taste follows the nose with notes of orange, mango, tangerine, some citrus pith, and lighter dank notes with some biscuit malt backbone. Feel is lighter bodied. Bright carbonation with a light prickliness.

Overall this is a really nice, well done pale ale. Light, easy drinking with lots of flavor. Very much digging this one.

Can I get one more in?
I will just say this a malty, semi sweet amber lager that is pretty damn tasty- especially for 7 bucks a 4pk. This is dated 07 May 22 which is at the end of its life. Many of these canned imports have 1 yr BB. That said its still good. I wonder how the hops were at a younger age? I like the malts now. [IMG]

Hello Late Night NBW (NBS version)
    Another shoutout to @Roy_Hobbs
He surprised me with this stellar gem. A fine example of a style often taken for granted, English Dark Mild Ales.

    Homespun Moon

    Canned 03/09/2022 "Cheers" stamped
Pours a deepest brown, Bright light reveals garnet highlights along the edge.Nice sandy head asserts itself two fingers and slowly recedes to a thin film. Ever so slight lacing.
Aroma is spot on for style. A smooth ride of toasty malt, hints of toffee, caramel, apple, and raisin. Slightly earthy.
Taste follows beautifully. Starts off with a mild toasty caramel meets toffee note with very subtle sweetness that hints at nuttiness. Fruit notes give some date, plum, and hints of apple. Dries out a bit to finish with a nice smooth, earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium, carbonation is low.
Overall, this is a lovely dark English Mild.

Lakefront: Apricot Blonde Barleywine Barrel aged in Brandy Barrels, 15.2% ABV stated on bottle.
Bottled on 02Feb22. I didn't find it listed on BA?
Website claims 13.4% ABV Either way this one will getha going (to bed for me). Bought a 6 pack of 12oz bottles on a bock run to Wausau WI on Sunday, went to Great Dane for Velvet Hammer bock and Uber Bock plus hit Bull Falls taproom for nice beers too

Back to the Beer: You can taste the apricot in the beginning and then some on the very end/Aftertaste. Only a hint of brandy that kicks in towards the end. Other flavors are honey, caramel, oak and stone dark fruit. ABV is somewhat hidden in the mouth but you feel it in the throat and chest. Rather smooth and fairly sweet. I like it, but not something I would drink daily.
