I made a stein in middle school shop class. A few years later a brother knocked it off the mantle with an errant football toss. He made me a replacement when in middle school, but dropped it while walking in the house. So this is my favorite stein…

Nuts, your picture expired. Or maybe you didn’t use Imgur or Postimage.

Sorry, can't figure out how to upload the image. I will if I can figure it out.

The stein I have is one that depicts the headquarters of the Jos. Dudenhoefer Co. in Milwaukee, ca. 1905. There is a collection of barrels in front of the building. It is marked as a "souvenir." It's a beautifully crafted German stein. It's all a bit odd, because it's a beer stein, and Dudenhoefer was a wine importer and whisky (and bitters) blender.

Here's the catch: this building was in Milwaukee--to be precise, 913 S. 16th St. It burned down only a few years ago. I was conceived behind the window on the second floor, left. I spent my first 3 years there--at the time it was a rather squalid apartment house. The former Dudenhoefer tasting room was a dive bar (Spruch's). We finally moved away--I was too small to remember the details of the place, but family photos portray the grim reality. My mother told me many years later that I cried when I was under the impression that we were about to return there (our new place was much nicer).

I found the stein on eBay, and in summer I like to have a beer, sipping from it and contemplating the improbability of it all...

Interesting story. I'm looking forward to seeing a pic of your stein.

Here's a link to a thread that should help you figure out how to add a pic to a thread. I hope it helps.

I spent a little time working with the Munich police department a few years ago. They gifted me this when I was at their headquarters one time.

I notice my thread was still active and we had some great posts last time. Thought I would share a couple more steins from my collection.

One from post unification Germany, based in the stamping on the bottom, I found in an antique/gift shop in North GA.

This one is the most recent I've added to my collection. My wife and I were on our 30th wedding anniversary trip in Asheville, NC. We dropped in Hillman Beer Co. and they had these available. I goes without saying I had to have it!

This .5L beauty is Jugendstil from 1900. Very gently used. Simple, groovy tang, lovely design, feels just right.

My wife bought this stein for me years ago, possibly before we got married. The knight’s (or whatever the dude is on top) sword is broken and it’s basically impossible to get a replacement figure. I know nothing about steins but I think it’s kind of cool.
