With the recent overrated beers thread, thought it would be fun to see what beers you think are underrated.

My first thought is Yuengling Traditional Lager.

I prefer Lord Chesterfield over Traditional Lager and that beer is indeed an underrated beer.

It has been a while since I have seen Genny Bock at any of my local beer retailers. I also consider that beer to be underrated too. I will be in Lake Placid in a few weeks and I will keep my eyes open to purchase some Genny Bock.

    Cheers!

Love Chetty and Genny Bock also. Great additions to this list.

Abita Strawberry Lager which used to be sold as Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. It currently sits at a ranking of 79 here. I buy it every year if I can get my hands on it.

Agree that this beer is likely underrated outside of Louisiana, but I know there are a lot of locals that look forward to the release each year. Strawberry Lager >>> Purple Haze, IMO.

I'll have to do a clean palate test to make sure, but last week I had a few cans of Carlsberg and had to do a double take with how much I enjoyed it. Especially for an industrial lager.

I took a chance because the Koenig people seem to have caught on to just how their value was through the roof and the price has almost doubled lately. So I'm seeing if I can find any other cheapies to fit the bill.:sunglasses:

I still remember when this happened with Dalmore Scotch a number of years ago. :slight_frown:

Dalmore used to be a great deal but alas....

    Cheers!

I never forget when I was young and still living back in Hungary, the good old days, after the Russian occupation they started importing foreign beers and Carlsberg was one of them. We liked it so much we were buying it by the dozen, shopping bags full of bottles clinking.

The best most underrated beers are the ones that come with good memories as chasers.

I recently introduced myself to Labatt Blue, and for a macro lager it is surprisingly unique, and crisp. Certainly not a German lager but it comes off closer to a blonde ale than a lager to me, but just my opinion.

I think that Warsteiner Dunkel deserves better ratings than it has. I think it only scores an 82 and it's just as good as Franziskaner which scores a 92. Also I'd like to add Leffe Blonde to the list. Belgian beer is the best in the world and this particular one deserves better ratings.

Although these have respectable scores, overall I think they're vastly underappreciated! :beers:

    -Pilsner Urquell
    -Anchor Steam
    -Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
    -Founders Solid Gold
    -Reissdorf Kölsch

I’ll second Coors Banquet and Heineken.

I have a bad habit of underrating my locals. Could be the easy access, the anticipation of far away beers not distributed to Montana, or whatever else. So my answer for underrated beer is my local breweries pouring fresh, quality beer whenever I want it without getting the major publicity.
