What beer are you drinking now? #3762

Had most of their beer list, this one is new to me.

Lovelady Gas Station Nut



Brewery Notes: 7.1% Pecan Porter, 16 oz draft.

Appearance: Dark Brown base, bright white head, light carbonation permeates. Poured close to the rim. 4.0

Aroma: Chocolate Fudge and pecan, caramel malt backs. All sweet, but doesn’t smell cloying. Medium strength. 3.75

Taste: Consistent with aroma, chocolate fudge, sweet caramel, pecan, chocolate malt. All work well together. 3.75

Mouthfeel: Very sweet, very light and easy drinking, prickly carbonation add to a light watery body. Caramel malt and sweetness lingers. 3.5

Overall: This is a good stout, sweeter than I typically like, but I am enjoying the different tastes. 3.75

May turn out to be a 1970s themed Two for Tuesday.

6 years ago today, my dad had a horrible accident that lead to his death a couple weeks later. I'm trying to be happy, but on this day it's tough.

This beer looks like I'm pouring motor oil. It is pitch black pouring with a 1 1/2 finger brown head. He bubbles are fairly small for the most part. The head retention is quite good. There's really no lacing as the head dissipates to a ring around the edge of the glass.
The aroma is a very pleasing mix of brown sugar, toffee, caramel, bourbon, chocolate, and dark fruit.
I get a lactose like flavor up front. I don't think there's any in here. I get a lot of chocolate in the flavor with plum, raisin, and fig. Caramel and toffee make the mix also.
The body is fairly thick. There's a bit of a burn on the backside.
Delicious!

Interesting trivia:
Goodyear is home to Luke Air Force Base.
It is named after WW1 pilot Frank Luke, who shot down many reconnaissance and barrage balloons.
"Frank" was the callsign for the F22 Raptor pilots who went up to shoot down the Chinese "weather (haha)" balloon a couple days ago.

 

I reached right past the Heady, Pliny, Hopslam, Tropicalia and Jai Alai..... because sometimes Lite is right.

There is a pretty good head on this, one of Treehouse's few and far between nicely bitter beer.
