I figured reg SdF would see a bump since it's been a while since it's release. Couldn't remember if Loam was $25 or $30 last time. I figured with DB generational being $50 that was the baseline for a single barrel beer, regardless of barrels used. $60 was the most expensive 375, but that was a triple barrel with anchorage tax. If it's $65 for a 375ml......man.

Not 100% sure, but I had D6 last year on tap for stout week and it was much worse than For Phil (which has the same adjunct ratio according to Cory). Cool keg storage might be better than bottles, but I feel like the stability of adjuncted stouts probably goes downhill after 1-2 years regardless of how its stored.

But they don't have any problem charging "vintage" prices for those :joy::joy:

I'm thinking minimum of $65 for Volkswagen BBT (my guess is $75). Forever Darkness was a 375 and was $65 if I recall correctly. I don't see the price going lower for a BBT aged in a coveted car like 1981 VW Scirocco.

I suspect the package will be the same total price as DB Gen and Forever Darkness. So ~143 after tax.

Längst on tap at the cellar. Never had the chance to try it before. What an awesome beer.

Have there been some early tastings of the VW BBT yet, or was it announced that members are able to get 2 bottles without packages?

I’m asking, because I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this many LC members throw up trades this early. Seems like more than even standard BBT when it comes around. Just seems unusual for something that you would otherwise expect to be a bottle that people would want to hold onto.

I’m not LC (insert sad face here) but my understanding is they have been able to purchase one single bottle and one package before the public sale next week.

Gotta trade it now before the value tanks after the public sale. I’m sure it’s going to be great, but I doubt it’s much better, if better at all, than BBT22. Personally I found 8 Candles (same barrels) to be really heavy on the char and a little unbalanced.

Thanks for the confirmation. Makes a lot more sense why so many bottles are hitting the market. The fact that LC members can get 2 bottles speaks to the volume that is expected to be released.

Still not sure how I feel about paying $60 for a 375 and another $70 for others beers just to buy that beer, but, yea.

Maybe it was all an elaborate plot to highlight LC'ers who flip their stuff for bourbon right before the end of the membership year. Us non-members can always dream.

Kidding aside, this feels like one to trade for rather than one to buy, especially if the current flood of FTs holds up.

Sounds like last weekend for MJK / OWK. Sad face for me.

Great start to Stout Week yesterday. Big crowd. Friendly, generous folks. Wonderful beers. Was able to enjoy a tremendous run of bottles and glasses.

Bonus, walked away with more vials than I could handle and even more L-O-Ls.
