Wait, they sold at $400 for a 375?

    Yowza.

Don't care about the selling or whatever, but D17 is fantastic. Rich vanilla, the cognac is noticable but not overpowering and adds nicely to the overall flavor. Really well done beer.

Personally my favorite since D13, but it's splitting hairs as always with these beers.

Same...as well as SR-71, Continuance b3, Symmetry, Bananaversary, plus 20-30 other brews. I can and have taken down plenty of 750s by myself or with my partner, but a 375 in a single night would be more enjoyable so as to have a different brew and not get burnt out on the one, as often occurs with viscous ass fluids like that. I tend not to try to save beer for the next day. That said, I do think a sweet spot for shares would be 500ml, like Bottle Logic, but as has been mentioned, beggars can't be choosers. Just glad to see some some sort of change in approach to packaging. I can't put down the same volume that I used to...I'm getting old.

So, WTF, am I missing something? As far as I know, D17 has no public sale, meaning it’s supposed to be “wrong” for LC members to sell bottles. Why aren’t people taking screenshots and sending these people’s names to SP? Get these fucking twats kicked out.

I think in most if not all cases members sell through a proxy. But if that’s not the case then it’s probably just a matter of time that they get found out and get the boot.

I enjoyed the idea that LC's high acceptance rate was fueled in part by the weeding out of resellers, but that may have been wishful thinking.

Yeah, that's the problem. The proxies are not members and they will most likely not rat out their source cause they're gettin paid too.

I mean, there is that one dude, MP, who does duck races for seemingly every big SP or HF release. Blatant, but been ongoing for awhile.

Question is, what’s worse: seeing people sell D17 or watching them tank its value in trade offers?

I find that if I ration a 375mL bottle (12oz) into six 2oz vials, I can sell them for a lot more.

I sell a staged photo of the beer with a nice background so my customers can post to their IG & Untappd.

I use the profit to invest in more vials.

Derivation 17 is the best Derivation since 12 and 9, imo. So, so good.

Chill crowd today at Shared and the brewery. Able to split a couple bottles of D17 and try the coffee crawl base and multiple variants on draft.

    Another great day in STL

With a few days left and Tuesday often being an important day for releases, I hope (wish?) that you have insider information, and this is classic bait and switch. I wouldn’t even be mad.

    2 things:

at twice the price of “regular” BBT this isn’t even close to being worth it…

…and, did anyone try the D17 white russians at Shared??

Looks like Clayton Winehouse is getting their own version of Parfait, per their IG.

Found the listing on their site. $20/can.

We wanted to pay homage to one of his favorite beers we have produced - Barrel Aged Coconut Vibes. For CWH Parfait, we blended with that special beer in mind and used our Oak Aged Vibes recipe blended with Barrel Aged Stout which had rested for 24 to 37 months in Weller 12 and Willett Rye barrels and a final touch of 2 oak barrels which were a blend of the M.J.K. and Vibes recipes which had rested for 25 months in Willett Bourbon Barrels. The final blend was then finished on raw coconut flakes and shredded toasted coconut. 12.5% ABV

It’s kind of weird that they’re even getting a batch because other than random Narrow Gauge I didn’t think they sold beer

At least I know I won't get this then, unlike TWCP where they would base Side Project allocations based on purchases and they would never tell you whether you were close or not. I'm fine not getting all the releases. Hopefully more beer for others. The folks at Clayton Winehouse are dope and know their wine. Hopefully this drives some traffic to them.

Agreed. Drank mine this past weekend. I’ve had every BBT except for Rye batch 1 and this was my least favorite BBT.

Although I have to say that I don’t do big shares anymore. Drink with my wife, my buddy, and my 2 of my high school friend who both like beer but don’t trade or know much about non-local stuff. This was the third beer we drank and even though this wasn’t a crazy large share where we opened 20 bottles like you see on social media posts, I have to wonder if my opinion would have differed had we opened this first.

it’s not like it was a bad BA stout by any means but certainly lacked the depth and complexities of all other BBTs.

For sure. I did edit my post though with a disclaimer stating it was the third stout that we opened, and this probably tainted my taste buds a bit, but this wasn’t as big and flavorful as any other BBT I had. I prefer the regular to the Rye batch 2 to this.

I thoroughly enjoy the juxtaposition of the last couple of posts in here. One is stoked at getting to try PVWBBT; another is disappointed in the lack of complexity of it. Beer is so incredibly subjective that it is nice to be reminded that if something isn’t your whale, it might be someone else’s. Let each person enjoy their experience with beer regardless of its perceived “quality”.
