Just finished watching a classic movie doubleheader. Alfred Hitchcock's 'Sabotage', from 1936 and then a macabre French film, 'Eyes Without A Face', from 1960. I'll be back later with some beer, but it's 4 A.M., I need a little sleep.

 

Did a bike ride yesterday in the Watou region. Crossed the Trappistenweg but didnt have a beer so I'll make up for it today. Cheers

Poured at 61° (the breaker for my 110v tripped overnight which runs my portable mini fridge). Roasty bitterness. Time to head over to the clubhouse for pancakes and sausage gravy biscuits. Cheers y’all!

 

Hello BAs! TA @Shanex for another thread. Just past 7:20 AM here and my plan was to have my last bottle of Obsidian Stout with a cup of coffee while rating/reviewing a bar called Jimmy's that I added to our system yesterday but it hasn't shown up yet. There's probly someone rolling outa there right now...! I will wait and enjoy beers here once things get moving. Cheers!

Full take linked here. Story for our audience, there is no maple syrup listed on the label, but that is the primary component to this offering. It's not well blended and a rare miss from one of my favorite breweries.

Speaking of misses, I have some threads to catch up with because I continue to be emersed in the absolute horror show happening on the South Side of Chicago. Perhaps "your team" has a bad owner, or a bad front office, but I challenge anyone to find as putrid a combination as Jerry Reinsdorf and Rick Hahn. Only two GMs over the past 73 years plus (as far as I can find GM records online) have had a longer tenure and worse winning percentage than Hahn (2013-2023).

Dayton Moore is one of the two, and he took his team to the World Series twice winning once. John Quinn's tenure with the hapless Philadelphia Philies is the other, and he took the National League Boston and Milwaukee teams to three World Series winning one in 1957. Hahn hasn't won a single playoff series in the 10-16 team playoff series era, and has one 79+ win season under his belt.

Alvarado Street - Double Howzit Punch.

Having some early morning juice. This beauty was generously given to me by @JayORear. It's my #3000 beer in BA. Delicious and impossible to tell the ABV.

One has to shake the can a bit before pouring or the first half of the pour will be crystal clear while the second half would be hazy and thick. Virtually no head after 3 seconds, much like a soda. Sumptuous fruity aromas and a thick sour mouthfeel make this an excellent beer that hides its booze well. A great sour.

Happy Sunday BA's! Three hours of OT complete. Big storm overnight. As I was leaving this morning at 0445 the power went out, I left our subdivision and started up the hill, pitch black and pouring, all of a sudden there was a big ass 3' diameter tree across the road with a big power line under it. I told my wife she was about the time it takes me to brush my teeth from a big ole life insurance payout. At first she didn't think it was funny, then I told her special accident would have paid about $1.5M, she ask if she could reconsider... recycled Jai Alai pic....
