Sunday Cheers to all you Mothers out there

 

Here is to my Mom on Mother's Day. She is up in Illinois with the rest of my family, about to go out and see the grand kids play in all their various sporting events today. Since, I can't usually visit the family for the more "minor" holidays, I always play music that my Mom got me hooked on. Anything from Carole King, Aretha, to REM, Talking Heads, and lots and lots of Paul Simon ha.

Second and final pour during stop one, this offering won bronze in the 68 entry category Strong Red Ale at the 2023 World Beer Cup. It’s listed as an IPA on their draft board and menu.

Tighthead Bear’s Choice



Brewery Notes: $3, 16 oz nonic glass pour. 6.5% ABV, 75 IBU, SRM 6.

American IPA brewed with a mix of base, specialty, and aromatic malts combined with the mango and tangerine citrus from copious amounts of Mosaic hops create a perfectly balanced IPA.

This beer won bronze in the Strong Red Ale at the 2023 World Beer Cup.

Appearance: Clear bronze base, nominal carbonation, creamy egg white head settles nicely above the base and provides generous lacing. 4.25

Aroma: Citrus floral aroma, mild in strength. Light tangerine noted after a few more whiffs. 4.25

Taste: Mosaic front and center, the tangerine and citrus bursting, with a mild malt backing and light pine bitterness. Very nice. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Very dry, pine bitterness catches up with sweetness as I near the midway point. Drinks light and easy, dryness bitter pine strong on the finish. 4.5

Overall: Another excellent Tighthead offering, can see why this was a Medal winner. Mosaic feature nicely, hits many high notes in the taste and digging the dry pine finish. Congratulations Tighthead! 4.5

I rarely see Tighthead in this thread, but hope folks consider grabbing their offerings in or around Chicago.
