    Mate, you're one up on me - my old man still buys the cheapest beer he can find. Tonight was the Greek beer, Vergina, which he found in a six-for-$12 bin at the local supermarket. In case you're wondering, that's bloody cheap in Oz!

    Luckily I also had been saving a Christmas beer, Sleigh Rider by Dollar Bill Brewing from Ballarat, for the depths of winter, and I followed up shitty Greek beer with a strange but compelling Aussie beer. It was a sprucey, raspberry liquorice, chocolate, fruit cake and aniseed mishmash of a beer, but it definitely tasted like Christmas.

    It's a weird thing in Oz that we have stinking hot summers (sometimes!) but brewers brew Christmas beers as though we're in the depths of a northern hemisphere winter. Since we are in fact in the nadir of winter right now, I thought I'd give it a crack tonight while watching Geelong kick their lowest score in a first half since before I was born - and that was 50 years ago next month! The beer kept me interested, as did Geelong's second-half comeback, but ultimately both left me feeling a little off-centre and unsatisfied.

    YES!

    We are so lucky to have Other Half in DC, I make Astro out there every couple of month, I have never been disappointed. We’ll, I did go to the original place in New York a few times, then also the expanded place, so it’s a relief not having to drive all the way up there! Cheers!
