Threads and posts per page (and media embeds per post) reduced

These changes will help as WBAYDN pages sometimes are slow to load. Can you insert more than two links which are not imbedded, or will links and embeds both be limited to two?

Also, will the host photos feature announced in 2021 and again in 2023 be implemented this year for society members and or all members sometime during the second half of 2023, and will this also improve, slow, or have no impact on page load time once implemented?

Good change. Pages sometimes became so extremely slow to load that I made a style sheet to block the embeds for those times.

 

The only reason this sucks is when you're drinking at a brewery and trying to enjoy yourself without being on your phone so you snap a few pics of the beers you drank and then put them all in a post when you leave. Now if you try 6 beers you have to make 3 separate posts to remark on each of them. Is my understanding correct?

 

@cjgiant will be able to lead the charge to 20 pages without troubles now! I guess we need to shoot for 40 now. And @miwestcoaster will have a decision to make on his YouTube videos each night.

Thanks for always working to make the site better. We all appreciate the dedication (and the quicker load times).

 

Every once in a while, I’ll include more than two images in a post, but this seems like a smart move overall. I haven’t had loading issues recently, but they’ve definitely occurred periodically in the past. And as a bonus, maybe we can finally get back to 20 pages a day on WBAYDN.

It's pretty common form in that forum but I get what you're saying. Probably make your page counts go up substantially as well.

 

Makes sense. Like @Blogjackets and @Bitterbill, I've noticed some lag as well lately (although I am partly to blame, as some of my posts can media-heavy ). Thanks for the heads up, @Todd!

 

I don't have a cell phone, but Todd's decision certainly sounds like the rational choice.

Not entirely true , certainly not all the music, but I often have conversations in those threads with @beergoot, @LarryV, @TCgenny, @ChicagoJ, @VABA, @ATL6245 etc. based on the music they post and will watch their links. It is definitely a good thing to limit the links that can be embed though. I was certainly taking advantage of that, and I think a lot of us were, but its a fun thing the WBAYDN threads have IMO.
