Starting with something basic myself. Yuengling Porter.

A Flemish Red which is a blend of 3/4 young beer and 1/4 oak aged. The reverse of the Grand Cru which is 1/3 young and 2/3 oak aged. So this is sweeter and less sour.

 

Next is Commonwealth Brewing Big Papi DIPA.



Looking to be a stifling day here in way Upstate New York.

 

Back from another mountain hike. This time we started at Col de la Schlucht which was one of the mountains in the final mountainstage of the Tour de France. Cheers!

Not a bad looking morning after a rather strong thunderstorm.

This is a very nice balanced IPA from Old Town. Canned May 19th.

Yes and why not. My review, from a big ass bottle:


750 ml bottle, $4.39.

A slow gusher, it pours a light gold with a 3 finger head of foam and does well with the lacing.

The smell is yeasty, fruity, malty, slight barnyard aroma, and bitter. Wow, that's a lot going on.

It starts of tasting sweet, candi sugar like, some bitterness in between and in the finish, yeasty, light flavour of maybe pitted fruit. Barnyard flavour...only a hint. It just might be a bit too sweet for me but overall, I'm digging it.

On the low end of medium bodied and with full carbonation, the mouthfeel is good. The big abv does show up but mostly after the swallow.

An interesting brew, labelled as a Belgian Golden Ale, and more than worth the money I paid for it. I'll be having more.(This is my 3rd bottle!)

GF fails to finish a 375ml bottle of cremant d'alsace so it seems I need to take over. But first another beer it is. It also seems we got out of the mountains in time. Been raining none stop since then.
