Another great beer brewed by Veil. My first post to this thread. From the Veil website:

“This is the QDH version of our house Hazy DIPA. Citra-forward with lots of saturated candied tangerine and pineapple flavors and slight pine.”

Clear, golden hued body; dense, fine-bubble carbonation; thick, frothy head, white and sticky; spidery fingers and chunky partial rings of foam orbit the glass. Fine, balanced aroma; light cereal malt with a whiff of mildly spicy hops. The taste builds on the aroma; richer, sweeter malt flavor; moderate hop bitterness; a bit spicy, a bit herbal tasting. Medium body; crisp; semi-sweet with little to no dryness at the finish.

I really like this pilsner. It is no great shakes in the world of lagers and pilsners per se, yet is balanced and flavorful. If this was regularly distributed around me, I could see myself making regular purchases of this beer year round.

Sibeeria - I Love the Smell of Moutere in the Morning

New England IPA with Moutere hops, from the Czech Republic (7.4%).

Pours a pale orange coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical, citrus hops, with notes of kiwi, papaya and grapefruit.

Taste is a good balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, slightly floral, spicy and resinous hops, with tropical and citrus notes of kiwi, papaya, lychee, grapefruit and lime peel, as well as hints of lemongrass, white pepper and pine Finishes with a light bitterness and some kiwi, papaya, lime peel and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This makes for an interesting NEIPA with a somewhat unusual flavor profile. I've certainly never gotten kiwi from any other hop variety before, yet it really stands out to me here, along with some lychee and other tropical fruit as well. There's also some quite zesty citrus notes here, with grapefruit and lime peel standing out, as well as some unique herbal and spicy undertones and just a hint of pine. Single-hop IPAs always make for an interesting experience and this one doubly so.

One and done for me tonight, this is a beer I first had 9 years ago, but never did a proper review. I’m a big fan of the style and a HUGE fan of the brewery, so let’s crank this mother UP!!!

This WCTIPA pours a beautiful clear golden color with a substantial oatmeal colored head that provides significant lacing. Absolutely gorgeous beer that literally glows in the glass, with a different look than I remember.

The nose is led by a big caramalt note, and as it warms, resiny pine and bright citrus notes and some berries emerge. Really nice nose on this beer, if a bit backward with the malt so forward.

The taste is back in the natural order of beer nerdery and big hoppy beers, with nicely bitter resiny pine flavors up front and orange, grapefruit, and ripe berry flavors following, and a very nice caramalt flavor at the back of the palate with a bit of alcohol warming.

The mouthfeel is very full and dry, making for a dangerously drinkable beer that will wallop you if you’re not careful at the 11% ABV.

I really liked this when I tried it previously, but it’s better than I remember (probably haven’t had it in 3 or 4 years). This is magnificent, IMHO.

    Ayinger maibock
    ...semi clear orange/gold appearance
...body and carbonation both hover around medium with and almost dry finish.
...malt/honey,mild banana with even more mild fruit and peel in the background. Has floral almost honeysuckle aroma which is very pleasing.
...taste is very, very mild sweetness with a mild hop bite that increases in the aftertaste. Everything that appeared in the aroma showed up in the taste with the bitterness washing some of of it out.
...overall very good and I assume others would enjoy it but the parts in the aroma I enjoyed were muted in the taste[IMG]

    Camba Bavaria - Bärliner Sour

Berliner Weße with Hallertau Blanc hops, from Germany (3.3%).

Pours a clear, pale straw coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light doughy malt and lactic acid, with hints of gooseberry and citrus as well.

Taste is a decent balance of doughy malt and light lactic acid, with just hints of gooseberry and citrus zest coming through as well. Finishes with a light tartness and some lactic acid lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and medium carbonation.

This makes for a decent Berliner Weiße, but I've certainly had better. It just feels very mediocre overall, with nothing really standing out or making this a particularly great drinking experience. Its one saving grace are those subtle gooseberry notes from the Hallertau Blanc, although they are very subtle indeed, along with a light grassiness. while the tartness is quite light as well. At least it doesn't feel too sweet though, making for a refreshing, but somewhat dull drinking experience.

Here's a nice surprise that arrived on Tuesday!

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/37303/582654/

    16 ounce can packaged 062623.

Vigorous pour yields a nearly two inch white head over a slightly hazy, straw colored body with scant lacing.
Head dissipates down to a ring within five minutes.

Nose has passion fruit, citrus, a bit of funk, and very slight oak, wine, and rum.

Taste is medium sour with passion fruit throughout and hints of wine, rum, and oak.

Adequate feel for the style with medium carbonation.

Overall, a real nice stab at a fruited sour from Brattleboro, VT and glad to have tried this now.
(I must have missed it when it was first produced!)

    Cheers!!

Here we are, doing what we do best sharing our thoughts on new beers and hanging out. Similar to @ovaltine I have a beer I've had before but it has been ages and what a special one this was to me. This beer always made my "what beer do you wish would return list" thread posts; I have fond memories of loving this beer so damn much. I'm actually sort of nervous about cracking this bottle open; what if its not the same and my foggy memory fails me? Nerves be damned, lets do this!!!!!! I even busted out the fancy glass for this one :beers:

Sierra Nevada - Ruthless Rye (Rye IPA 6.6%)

Pours copper like brown, great clarity, slight off-white head builds quickly and sustains for quite some time; collapses into a fat cohesive head that leaves some substantial lacing.

The nose is so vibrant and lively; spicy wood, cedar like, zesty character, sappy orange citrus, some vague and light floral character.

Taste is very rye forward and carries some toasted grain character, rustic tasting in nature, caramelized maltiness, pine needles and orange citrus rind; black pepper bite on the finish.

Medium light body, classic smooth creamy SN carbonation, the perfect kiss of malt sweetness that is then crushed by a spicy biting bitterness which then flips to absolutely dry clean finish.

Well this is as good as I remember it being, such depth of malt and clean hop bitterness; it maintains such a high level of drinkability for its 6.6% abv. I will smile each and every sip of my remaining two bottles. Thank you Sierra Nevada!!!!! This beer is a masterpiece; I want to just give it 5's across the board

Tomorrow, the last and final revisit of the variety pack :beers:

This batch is 4.8% ABV. Poured from a 750mL bottle into my Troubadour tulip.

Clear jasmine body with a fat ivory finger. Sticky, cakey lacing; excellent retention.

Fruity/floral/funky aromatics - subtle and evolving: pear, lemon, hay, wildflowers, river stones, oak, white wine.

Flavor follows the nose with more pronounced biscuit malt quality, heritage grains, and deeper pear notes as well as a more forward lemon-kissed acidity. Tart, dry, lightly mineral-laden finish. Low, grassy bitterness throughout. Not quite salty/briney at times - as refreshing as the sea in Summer.

    Medium-bodied, zesty, and crisp.

Busy yet subtle - an ethereal marriage of grains and wild notes from oak.

Got a bit wet grilling dinner, but not bad. What was cool was watching the lake. We are staying on the shallow, quieter, narrower end of Highland Lake and there were actually white caps and small surf as the wind shifted around. Wind is no stranger here, but what a difference coming out of the more northerly direction made.

Now for a legit new beer...

Lake St. George Brewing No. 96, a straightforward IPA using Columbus as the bittering hops and El Dorado, Mosaic, and Citra for aroma and flavor.

Pours crystal clear gold with about 3/4 inch of tight, white foam. The head falls quickly to a ring and islands that persist. No lacing.

The nose opens with grapefruit and maybe a tad bit of orange. There's a strong bready malt that is giving some sweetness. Floating over the top are pine and herbaceous notes.

The taste is straightforward American IPA - nothing fancy. Grapefruit and orange - kind of the whole fruit including the more sharp and oily taste of the peel. It passes off to bready, slightly sweet malts which in turns leads to a fair bit of pine resin and an assertive but not overpowering bitterness. There's a very mild spice. The sweetness of the malt lingers a bit.

The feel is medium- bodied. There's a little tingle I think from the bitter and mildly spicy combo. The after-taste is brief and definitely supports the aromatics - lessens the bitter impact nicely.

Ok...so this is a very nicely made, well-balanced, traditional IPA. It isn't going to melt your face with hop intensity. Old school, classic. I'm finding the more I drink, the more I like. Thinking in the 3.8 category - maybe higher for strong adherence to style. If I nitpick, I'd say the aroma is a bit light.

    What's up NBWs

    dHop 49 from Equilibrium Brewing
    8.5% Imperial IPA
a 2 blend fermentation process and hopped with Citra and Strata

poured from an undated can yields a fluffy above the glass rim white head. Color os hazy yellow orange Great head retention and thick cap, soapy thin lacing
aromas of fruit punch, citrus, melon and caramel, there is a passion fruit note
taste is fruity but not overly sweet, malty and hoppy, flavors are kind of muted
Mouthfeel is softish and a tic sticky, medium carbonation and a dry kind of prickly finish
overall it's definitely a fruit salad but well balances flavors, one doesn't over whelm the others. Easy drinking and a nice feel.

    Tonewood - Poolside Lager

12oz can served in a little angular glass. Can is dated 05/30/23. @jonphisher sent it to me in a care package. I think it might be the strongest beer that was in that care package, at 5.2%.

Pours clear golden with a bit of a brassy tinge, moderate head. Smell is light and pretty clean, a little bit of bready yeast and a bit of lagery funk.

Taste is moderately sweet, little bit of lemon and a fair bit of honey or honeysuckle, little bit of earthy bitterness way in the back, breadiness takes on more of a corn bread kind of character, though not as corny.

Mouthfeel is very light and clean. Overall, not a showstopper or anything, but a good clean easy-to-drink, refreshing beer. Maybe a bit on the sweet and full side for the style, but I like it. Going very well with this baseball game the White Sox are trying to lose.
