Milwaukee's Best trumps Old Milwaukee. It's even in the name....but I drank my share of both:grin:

I drank too much Beast in college (low cost beer of choice at UVA mid 90s).. heavy, lite and ice variety. Had to get those ticks, I guess

A fun fact: back in 1996 Consumer Reports gave Old Milwaukee a thumbs up:

“Consumer Reports, in its June issue, says the very best mass-marketed beer in America is . . . Old Milwaukee.”

    And:

“Old Milwaukee, the nation's 10th-best-selling beer, was judged against Miller High Life, Budweiser, Schlitz, Stroh's, Schmidt's, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Coors and other such mass-market beers. Consumer Reports says Old Milwaukee is -- with the exception of Scotch Buy, the Safeway house brand -- the cheapest beer in the land, averaging $1.69 a six-pack.”

    Also:

"I'm sure there are some skeptics, but once they see this ranking, people may go back and try it again," says Lacey Logan, spokesman for the brewery, whose Stroh's brand won second place in the Consumer Reports test.

Now hold on: This is, after all, Consumer Reports, where testing is rigorous and honesty unquestionable. Rana Arons, spokeswoman for the magazine, says 17 panelists, all with academic training in matters of ale, blind-tested 69 kinds of beer, among them 14 mass-market brands. Many of them hold advanced degrees, including several PhDs in fermentation science.

The testers tasted each beer five times, ranking each brew for 30 qualities.

"It doesn't matter to us what the results are," Arons says. "We take no advertising. We asked only if it had a good beer taste, if it had all the components of a good beer."

I wonder how the Old Milwaukee of today compares to the 1996 version?

    Cheers!

That was the beer of choice at my college back in the 90s. Probably haven’t drank it since but it did the trick at the time.

It was a good beer decades ago. Haven't had it in forever but it's owned by Pabst now. So isn't it in the giant Pabst, Lone Star, Schaefer, Olympia etc tank?

Actually that would make for a good side by side. Pabst, Lone Star, Schaefer, Olympia etc. Do it blind see if anyone could tell the difference

Many years ago, a group of us at the cabin did a blind taste test out of plastic cups between Bud, Miller High Life, PBR, and Old Milwaukee. Old Milwaukee won hands down! :beers:

I bought and drank a 30 rack of Old Milwaukee last November. It took me several months to knock them down. In this particular lane, this is my rank in the Molson-Coors-Miller family. All of which I have drank in the past 6 months.

    Hamm's
    Coors
    Pabst = Miller High Life
    Old Milwaukee

    Cheers!

Good old Theta Mu. Back in my day (late 80's) a keg of Old Milwaukee ran about $35 - delivered. Many consumed in many different ways - has a soft place in my heart now. And my liver.

    Where is the Lady Duff??

We drank 16oz Old Mildew in school. $3 a six at the local sandwich place. Can’t say I loved it but it was beer we could get easy and cheap.

    Enjoy
