If it wasn't for having to finance a brake job in the near future I'd be buying that right now.

WA also has one of the highest sales taxes in the country. I'd love to see WA abolish the latter and institute an income tax instead. Since I'm not a TechBoy that would work out much better for me and many others. But whenever I mention this to my fellow working poor here they immediately start spinning conspiracy theories of how once there's an income tax Olympia would then re-institute the sales tax. So things stay very regressive.

    This makes my head hurt
All I know is, since the 2017 “tax cuts” one of our biggest deductions was capped at $10,000, and now every April we owe a lot. Thanks Trump.

Btw, I meant TechBro, which I believe is the preferred pejorative term, but I was having a Brain Fart, so TechBoy was the best I could do.

Having both an income and with a supplemental sales tax might be a good compromise. The sales tax can pick up some income by taxing the underground economy. My example of a co. moving to Texas, Fisher, is leaving Camas, WA, essentially a Portland suburb 30 min from downtown. The employees can buy non-trackable WA taxable items in Oregon using cash, and make use of Portland entertainment and dining opportunities, and avoid all income taxes while living in WA. The wealth tax was a small move by WA to pick up some tax from the very rich, but that bothered some companies enough to pick up their playthings and move on.

The 10K cap has hit me slightly (retired) and my kids harder with tax increases, understanding the kids' NYS property plus income taxes are at least double the cap. The income tax automatically goes back to the pre-trump rules in about 2025 (including the tax bracket rates being increased to previous levels). The big tax breaks for the rich are not affected.

Certainly doesn’t hurt that the BA Mid-Atlantic region has the largest population in the country

    My analysis:
Where do most of the old people live that have higher than average income that live in crappy weather regions? That explains the craft beer demographics of 2023 on Beer Advocate forums that respond to polls. Would be interested to see if this is consistent with say same poll taken in 2005- 2010. Would think CA and Pacific Northwest would be much higher back then but it could be the same as today just as well.

Speaking for my region (personally for the first one, regionally for the second two):
    ✓ Old people
    ✓ Above average income
    ✓ Crappy weather

Having moved from NYS to WA 23 years ago, I can promise you it is not. a 7+% sales tax on yop of an income tax is a double whammy. My county has an 8% sales tax, and voters just added to that for a new jail. On tap of the jail sales tax they voted in 2004 for a jail that was never built. Sales taxes never get rescinded.

Haha. Funny hearing Washington residents complain about taxes (I was a California resident for 30+ years).

Very happy in Texas. (Btw we pay the same income tax as Washington)

It's not just the taxes, it's the fees for everything. Want to work in a restaurant? Need a food handlers permit, $15 every 2 years. Want to serve beer? Need an alcohol permit, $40 every 5 years. Want to hold the the stop/go signs at construction sites? A $50 class every 3 years, with a permit on top of that. There's a lot to love about living here, but ya get nickled and dimed every time ya turn around.
