That’s still a lower incarceration rate than the United States—seriously
On the other hand, our power grid is stable when it snows and the temperature rarely exceeds 100 (at least west of the Cascades). You couldn’t pay me enough money to live in Texas.

I’d think it would be whatever the Gabrieleño, Chumash, or Tataviam people called it.

It was just an apparently poorly delivered joke about an Angelino giving a very detailed geographic description of downtown LA.

As someone who has spent a lot of my life thinking of "LA" as everything from Paso Robles to Oceanside and the coast to San Bernadino I've grown to appreciate the specificity with which the locals speak of that metropolis.

'Doesn't hurt that PA and NY are two of the top producing states by barrel in 2023 (Washington State and Oregon being right there at the top also) ...

Not buying the population thing but looks like two of the smaller States which happen to be in the Northeast (NH & VT) are making up for the Mid-Atlantic. Then again, can you blame them with so many good breweries up there?

This is just a poll of people who are active enough on BA threads to vote—so statistically the more people you have in your BA region, the higher your total should be. But along the lines of what you are saying, New England is crushing everyone in terms of poll responses. The states composing the New England region on BA represent only 4.54% of the U.S. population, but they currently have 14.6% of the vote.

Also, a shout out to our three friends in Asia and Latin America who finally voted!

Hey, statistical math is impressive but the reality is, at the conclusion of this thread, we'll have an unscientific result and you nailed it: "This is just a poll of people who are active enough on BA threads to vote".

I did my due BA patriotism.:beers: !!

Yeah, 'dem left coasters need to learn how to use periods -- L.A.

Unless, of course, they use the term La La Land.

I was 13, the Sparks' track Get In the Swing Pal..."I'm from LA". Dictionary from 1950-1960. No mentioning Los Angeles. Had to figure it out bit by bit. Kind of New York on the west coast, if you excuse

Somebody already may have mentioned this idea, but I'm convinced only about half of the active BAs have voted. Am I nuts to think that?

FWIW I'm in Houston, so I'm part of the 4.1% from the Southwest, land of Jester King, Live Oak and Lone Pint.

Well, maybe you're 'nuts' to think it's "only about half." I'm not going to add up how many have voted so far, but I'd say less than 10% have voted so far. But that may depend on how "active BAs" is defined.

Yup. 20 years ago it had a strong New England focus, and while that's changed a lot, I think it still has a northeast tilt.
