I searched the threads to see if there was any info on this already, but with no luck. I myself must be old fashioned or something because I prefer a bottle with a standard pop-off cap. I don’t by any means hate twist offs, I just find opening a bottle with an opener way more cool! As for cans, it always seems to me that the aluminum compromises the taste of the beer, even if poured in a glass. Lastly, there’s those aluminum bottles things. Who TF thought of those?

While I like to drink beer from a glass bottle with a pop top, I appreciate the convenience of can stackability for trades.

As mother always said, it's what's on the inside that counts...

It depends on the beer (for me). Certain ones are tied to nostalgia. If I drank it from a bottle before the can, I prefer the bottle & vice versa.

In a poll like this that's somewhere in the archives I answered that I prefer bottles because I'm a cap collector. With the strong emergence of cans since that poll I've pretty much stopped collecting caps. So my answer now is 'I don't care'.

No. Unless you don't open the can fully, or you pour the beer so there's no head. You really aren't going to compromise anything.

I love the romantic aspect, historical importance, and aesthetic qualities of glass bottles, but there’s no more convenient or portable container for beer than the 12oz aluminum can.

For years now, 98% of what I’ve been drinking at home has been in cans that’s it feels almost refreshingly retro to work through a few sixers in bottles lately.

Given a choice I want a bottle with a top I need an opener for. Given no choice I’m all good with cans. I do find cans odd for Belgian, big stouts, sours and other beers that I just think should be in a bottle. Cans of Pliny, Expedition, Allagash sour beer and the like would all be a bit odd to me.

End of the day I’m good either way.

    Enjoy

Beers always taste different (occasionally better) to me when they come in a can. I’m not saying that all have a metallic taste, it just seems like a lot of them do. The can is way better for shipping than a bunch of glass bottles clanking around though.

While I prefer pop top or even cage and cork bottles, cans don't bother me much. It does strike me strange that some beers are showing up in cans but assuming a quality canning line properly operated I can't say the beer has been any different. So I don't care as much as I used to and nowadays it's not like we have a choice. A waxed pop top is just plain annoying, though.

One thing I do like about bottles, especially the large format bottles, is that I can put a stopper in them if I can't finish in one sitting or it's something the missus doesn't want to share.

I should have added a selection for cage and cork. I spaced that category!

Both are good, but I choose the can version of a beer when both are available, so voted can.

Cans are easier to carry and dispose of so I choose cans.

Bottles, preferably seven-ounce brown glass bottles. I don't mind twist-off caps as long as I know they're twist-off caps before I start prying on them. Cans are okay, but they have no place in my Christmas lineup. (Gotta keep it classy!) As far as aluminum bottles, there should be a special place reserved for them in the deepest pits of hell.

    Oh, and #proper glassware. Always.

    Cap collectors unite!
I've shifted to peeling labels off cans and saving them if the artwork is worth keeping.
