Good day BAs! Thanks @dcotom for starting today's thread. Off to another typical winter day here on the tundra of NW PA - 29F/-2C and cloudy - just depressing as hell. Today's New Breakfast beer, however, is grapefruity and refreshing:



Final impression and summation: 4.25 For being a year past date, the Simcoe hops have held up well, bringing a delightful grapefruit flavor and bitter/sweet/bitter taste sensation to my taste buds. I rolled this can a few times before opening to make sure I got the full effect of the haziness. Unfortunately, any peach flavors were long gone, but for what it is (an old can of beer), it’s still good.

Drinking a Weizen-Bock by Brauerei Karg on this very windy and rainy Tuesday.

 

Good morning and HNY advocates.

Yesterday was busy with moving my wife to a new tattoo studio office, so no new beer was enjoyed, and now here we are with a 10.9% monster to start the morning of my last day off work.

Purchased from the brewery cooler for $5
Poured at above fridge temp into a snifter glass

Pours whiskey colored copper with a small fizzy head that disappeared quick. No lacing but leaves an oily slick on the glass. 4

Hot booze is the first thing that hits the nose, followed by some caramel corn sweetness and a dull earthy hoppiness. I see Kent Golding hops are used in this one. Some golden raisin and dark stone fruit as well. 4.25

Hot booze is again the dominant note on first sips, and lots of caramel and some tobacco. Enjoyable. 4

Body is not what I'd expect. Hot and warming but light on mouthfeel and carbo. Some light residual hoppiness and bitters as I wait between sips. 4

Overall my first experience I believe with an Old Ale and a very enjoyable one. Would certainly buy again and look forward to other breweries offerings. 4

Good day BAs! Stayed up late, slept in…lunch beer - New Glarus “30th Anniversary Quadruple”:



Canned in early 2023. Part of my IP trade with @Number1Framer this summer. Poured at 53°. Creamy head, clovey nose with fruity esters. Banana, clove, caramel, sugary raisins. True to style, a delicious Belgian-style Quadruple. Well done NG!

Another sunny mid 70s day here in SW FL. I’ll probably stay home and take it easy…Cheers and have a terrific Tuesday y’all!
