Welcome to another year of Belgian beer! Will this be the year that Belgian beers gain some steam? I think so!

As a reminder, here are the styles covered in this thread, although a couple of others might be considered.

    Belgian Blond Ale
    Belgian IPA
    Belgian Pale Ale
    Belgian Strong Dark Ale
    Belgian Strong Pale Ale
    Dubbel
    Flanders Red Ale
    Flanders Oud Bruin
    Lambic
    Quadrupel
    Saison
    Trappist Single
    Tripel
    Witbier
Belgian Stout (although not officially a category)

I enjoyed this one tonight! Stille Nacht from De Dolle. This bottle is from 2021. Very enjoyable Belgian pale strong ale. Definitely a nice mix of hops and malts. Some toffee, ginger, pear, and citrus. Comes in at 12% ABV. Santé!

Thank you @Beersnake1 for kicking things off this year! One of my New Years Resolutions is to enjoy more Belgian offerings, and I am off to a roaring start. Enjoyed about half this bottle yesterday, the rest now.

Full review in the New Beer Weekend #180 Thread. This is my fourth vintage, and they have all ranged from very good like this one to excellent like 2022. Well worth a stop to try this out.

Trappist Achel Blond, a FANTASTIC tripel. Banana, apple, cream & clove flavors. I need to stock up on these...

My local TJs sold out quickly this year. I wonder if they brewed less...

Hope to make lots of contributions to this thread this year! A 2020 bottle poured into a slightly chipped Unibroue glass. Love this beer and wish I could still buy it.

Lovely beer, indeed. They don't distribute to New Brunswick anymore?

We get 12-can packs of the Blanche, and 750ml bottles of La Fin du Monde. Used to get a much wider variety. Not sure why, but it could be as silly as the whims of the inventory buyer / category manager at our government monopoly stores.

Rochefort Triple Extra. Belgian yeast, bubblegum, and hints of citrus and spice (pepper, clove, cardamom). Mouthfeel is on the lighter side. The finish is a tad astringent, with an umami note lingering on the palate. Santé!

A Westmalle Dubbel bottled May 2018. Love this beer…. And my government-run specialty booze store just got a couple of cases in stock recently, so I may need to stop in and acquire one of those….

A Belgian imperial stout! BB is January 6th, so I snuck this one in just under the wire

Slightly fruity. “Foreign Export Stout” is the style I would have guessed were I tasting this blind. Super drinkable for the ABV….I could really drink this by the pint and get in big trouble!

I think the rising beer costs had a LOT of people seeking this out more this year and thats part of it. The one in Pasadena on Arroyo had it for weeks in the shelves

The venue changed a couple years ago.
The 2 remaining monks returned to Westmalle and the place in Achel was sold. The new owner changed labels (but not recipes). The label in yr picture is the "old" label, when Achel was still a trappist.
    Nowadays: abbey beers.

Oh we are keeping this thread on the front page in 2024.

Franc Belge, a Belgian Pale Ale from De Ranke. Notes of banana, biscuit, some artisanal soap and mild apple cider. This may sound like too much, but in the palate it's balanced & pleasant. The glass is pretty awesome too.
