    Fair enough.

One more tip- Fegley's has a barleywine called Wassail-something in cans. Haven't seen it in the wild but will keep an eye out.

2017 J.W. Lees Harvest Ale. Wanted to start of the new year with one of my favorite beers.

Kicking off the 2024 Cellar Review thread with my notes.

Brett Barleywine is truly an unhinged concept, but I’m aware that this is supposed to be a historical approximation of Barleywine. While the traditional sweeter English Barleywine notes do remain, they're overruled by a sharp fruitiness and even smoky notes of tobacco at points. A very unique beer that’s definitely worth a try

Hotel Beerz in Seattle. Five from Future Primitive Brewing in Seattle. Barrel aged American barleywine blended from five years of BA barleywines. Comes in at 11.8% ABV.

2022 can poured at fridge temp. Pours a clear orange with tons of bubbles rising throughout. A bit of off-white head that goes away pretty quickly. The nose is full of sweet caramel, bourbon, slight vanilla, and a bit of pine needle.

The taste is a bit different from the nose. Getting more hoppy bitterness here. Definitely mixes nicely with the sweet toffee notes. Sponge toffee is what I think of. Bitter oak, leather, and resin. Some bourbon definitely comes through with a relatively sharp booziness. Somewhat dry on the mouthfeel. Overall, a solid BA American barleywine.

Morning barleywine, because why not? Tree House: Gilded Grove, Ceramic Toast Barrel

Aged in toasted French oak barrels. Less sweet than the Madeira barrel version. Not a whole lot going on, but there’s nothing to get upset about other than the high price, and intense presentation which leads you to think it will be something special. I might let the bourbon barrel version sit for a while and see what happens down the road

    Nice one from @CarolinaCardinals
Once More With Feeling Double BA Barleywine
This is a nice introduction to Casita for me.

Thanks to CarolinaCardinals for not only entering this one into the DB but for sending it to ME!
Deep mahogany (almost obsidian) in hue. Loosely packed head forms, with large bubbles that hint at tan, but tapers off quickly. Low retention, slight lacing.
Nose is Bourbon forward, hinting at a boozy warm ride. Caramel, dates, brown sugar, and a mild hint of charred barrel comes through as well. Very nice.
Flavor is different than the nose previewed. The sweetness shows up first. Caramel, brown sugar, toffee, dates, raisin, and candy sugars. Bourbon peeks in as it warms. The ride continues with hints of fruity port notes. This is the reverse of what I expected. Still good, but definitely sweet.
Mouthfeel has a respectable heft, low carbonation, and a smooth, gently warm finish.
