Picked up a 2023 edition from the Appalachian Vintner 10-26-23 for $21. Consumed 12-21-24.
Beer poured dark brown with a fizzy tan head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is very nice as i am getting notes of dark fruits from the malt base and vanilla from the barrel aging.
Taste follows the nose as the large malt base gives strong notes of raisins and dates. Hopping is there to balance the sweetness while the barrel lends vanilla. Getting some toffee in the post-sip aspirations. Finishes barely on the sweet side.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied but feels thin and not any special smoothness or viscosity.
Overall, a tasty barleywine, glad i was able to try.

Extremely dark blackish brown body, light brown ring. Giant bourbon nose, caramel, barley, slight cinnamon, and raisin all there, very potent. Taste has boozy bourbon, dark wood, molasses, toffee, grape not raisin, plum and vanillins. Feel so very warm with booze, but light and thinner, this holds the overall beer back a bit. Boozy sipper with great flavor potency

Thanks to CarolinaCardinals for not only entering this one into the DB but for sending it to ME!
Deep mahogany (almost obsidian) in hue. Loosely packed head forms, with large bubbles that hint at tan, but tapers off quickly. Low retention, slight lacing.
Nose is Bourbon forward, hinting at a boozy warm ride. Caramel, dates, brown sugar, and a mild hint of charred barrel comes through as well. Very nice.
Flavor is different than the nose previewed. The sweetness shows up first. Caramel, brown sugar, toffee, dates, raisin, and candy sugars. Bourbon peeks in as it warms. The ride continues with hints of fruity port notes. This is the reverse of what I expected. Still good, but definitely sweet.
Mouthfeel has a respectable heft, low carbonation, and a smooth, gently warm finish.
