I've heard about AIS, but you don't get it north of the border.

I'm assuming it's similar to that of Carlton Black or Tooheys Old, or do CUB pull out all the stops and make a decent brew like Coopers Best Extra Stout?

Final impression and summation: 3.75 (after deducting 0.25 point for undated personal container) Sweet but not cloying, distinctly a bit harsh with bourbon prior to warming, but harshness recedes by the final swallow: still no barrels. The initial “dark fruits” are probably due to the “complex malt bill”. Rating 3.95, rDev -4.8%
