If there's one left in the morning, I'll save it for a review.

FWIW -- the BA reviews aren't terribly favorable. :grimacing:

Might also be categorized incorrectly, though I doubt that affected the reviews one way or another.

Meh. One tick from 2015. It's worse on Untappd with 5.7k ticks, but no surprise there. Luckily I don't base my purchases on these things.
Fixed, I think. I mean, it says "BOCK" (even bigger than that) on the side of the can.

You'd think the whole goat thing would give some clue.

    Double listing?

Hmm. Tuplapukki means double-goat in Finn -- whod'a thought?

[IMG] My Foam Brewing order arrived today and I’m enjoying a selection from it: “Doppelbock “ Lager! This is absolutely incredible!

[IMG] I know that I’m being redundant, but I feel compelled to post this one again: Foam, “The Minus Times “ Doppelbock! Oh, so good!

Point Brewery makes a good Bock. Leinenkugel Brewery also makes a very nice Bock. Those two are my go to Bocks.
Back in the 60`s and 70`s, Pabst Blue Ribbon made a great Bock. I wish they`d bring it back!

Not up to the Bock standard set here. Unmistakable German yeast, but thick ale type finish. Festbier...silly word.

    Huh?

Thing is, if it's a Festbier it's not pretending to be a Bock, so it probably shouldn't be compared to Bock "standards."

Okay. My Bock knowledge is limited. Grew up with shiner Bock. I think of festbiers as hoppy baby bocks.

Well, first of all, Festbier is more akin to stronger Helles -- in color and flavor (sounds like the Schnitzel missed the mark for a Festbier, maybe the brewery confuses Fest and Märzen?).

AFA as hoppy? Well, maybe moreso than Traditional or Doppelbock, but maybe not Maibock/Heller Bock.

But please remove Shiner Bock from any Bock benchmark you may have it at -- it's pretty much an American Amber Lager and not worthy of the Bock title.

Now that you mention it, this does taste more helles than Bock. My German is rusty. IPA/ stout is my usual. Thanks!

Territorial Brewing's Penetrator Dopplebock. (Named for what the locals call the 2-mile spur off I-94 that penetrates into downtown.) This beer's abv seems to change every year (currently at 10% but has varied from 8.7% to 10.3%) so the recipe must have some subtle changes too. I think this one is the best ever, and am really enjoying it.

Lupulin BBA Doppelbock, 10.8% ABV. Pours dark-brown to near-black with a 1.5 finger light-brown head that left slight lacing. Aroma is light caramel/toffee, bourbon and malt. Flavor is spicy, roast malt, caramel/toffee, bourbon, faintly sweet, moderately bitter. Decent mouthfeel, no bourbon burn. Overall outstanding.

    4.4/5 rDev -0.2%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

This is bit of a unique beer, never had a BBA bock before, quite enjoyable. Luckily the ABV was low, given the bigazz bottle.
