Too early to start the BCBS 2024 tgread, but enough news already with more to come to create a 2024 Thread.

This year will include the opening at their Salt Shed location. There are two jobs posted for the new space, with many staff including Aidan also expected to transfer to the new location at 1221 W. Blackhawk Street, Chicago, 60642.

Doesn’t look like they will be open for Saint Patrick’s Day Shamrock Stouts, but hopefully their Fulton Brewery will accommodate.

And while 2024 BCBS news will develop over the year, @Jaycase reported on a pending Double Barrel Rye stout:

Can also use this thread to report close out pricing on 2022 / 2023 BCBS and variants, since the 2023 thread has been locked. $6.99 for regular was spotted at Jewel in the suburbs, a per ounce price cheaper than Deth’s Tar.

    Honk! Honk!

$6.99 for 2023 regular, $14.99 for Bananas Foster and Backyard Stout.

Hoping to find these at a Jewel closer to Chicago. I believe this is from their Schaumburg location.

OK, would have included this in one of my first two posts, but didn’t come across this information until reading the Guys Drinking Beer weekly email this evening.

I was told by an employee at Clybourn it would not take more than a couple weeks to transition operations to Salt Shed last Fall. However, I’m not sure if they knew the status, or lack thereof, of progress at the new space at the time.

Not sure if the open will be 18 months late like Guinness, but it’s possible Goose Island Salt Shed doesn’t open until 2025 based on this update by Guys Drinking Beer:

I took a behind-the-scenes tour of the salt shed development as a whole that was offered to architects late last summer. This might have been before the announcement, but aside from the music venue itself the property was pretty raw. I didn’t see any work in progress that would have suggested a banner tenant like goose was months away.

With the resources at hand work can move quickly and 2024 still seems feasible. But I’m not holding my breath - my guess is they’ll reveal a more specific timeline when they’re comfortably 2-3 months out from opening.

Thanks for the detailed update! I meant to check the site last fall heading down to FOBAB but was running late. From what I was told, Goose Island's original lease ended December 2022. However, conversion work was pushed back, so they were to continue until being notified in late Summer they would need to close before year end 2023.

Public reports in December 2022 stated the new GI Salt Shed space would be ready by December 2023. Can't see much of an appetite to build anything at this stage with the insane glut of office and retail space, perhaps 50-67% underwater from borrowed values.

Unless employee have a hard date from management, they are just guessing and not in the know. Whether FFF or GI or other. Customers are generally last to know with rank and file being second to last.
InBev’s take over and refresh of the Clybourn space (which was pretty minimal in retrospect and I have no idea how
It took so long) was supposed to take a few months and took well over a year. I wouldn’t hold your breath on GI Salt Shed. It will open when it opens. Same with FFF’s brewpub we’ll be extremely lucky to have open in 2024 if they can pull it off.

Gee, one has to wonder if Goose would be better off maybe putting those in a 4 pack of 12oz bottles for $20 going forth…

In fairness, it's Woodman's so that's the cash price. I'm sure extra $10-$15 I pay anywhere else is for the privilege of using my credit card.

    Which Woodman's?

Will take a trip to Buffalo Grove tomorrow if this is available there. $4.99 is a very good deal per ounce.

Haven't bought a single 2023 bottle yet, only had FOBAB Backyard Stout and it was too sweet for me.

Yes, that's the one. Although perhaps other stores might have similar markdowns.

What a country we live in. $4.99 for bourbon barrel aged stout. .99 cents for a can of tuna. If someone had told me that in the era of rampant inflation for under $6 I could French press my own tuna stout…

This is beeradvocate we don't get excited about beer. We're supposed to say something like "bet these will end up for $5 at Woodman's by the end of the month".

Sure did. I hesitated for a moment but then couldn't help myself. I really like that it saves me having to wait out the More random drawing now.
