    In Austin TX for work, a couple of local beers are working REALLY well for me on a beautiful day in the capital of Texas. First up is Electric Jellyfish, a really nice hazy from Pinthouse Brewpub.

    Followed by this beauty of a Vienna Lager - this is Big Bark from Live Oak Brewing Company, which is IMHO the best brewery in Texas.

    By a lot. Absolutely love it.

    ...my youngest brother had shingles...said it was ugly and a horrible experience...I don't recall much reaction to my first shingles shot, but, like the second COVID shot, the reaction was stronger...I assume second vaccine shot reactions are likely due to one's body having antibodies present and now aggressively attacking the perceived infection with the second shot... it seems @LesDewitt4beer had the same reaction I did to the 2nd shot...regardless, you're 100% correct that a day or two relatively minor discomfort is way preferable to getting an actual case of shingles...

    A friend of my mother's was telling me about getting shingles. He said it was literally the worst thing he ever experienced.

    This collab is disappointing. Doesn't hold a candle to the Urq. In fact, it reminds me a lot of Staropramen, which I drank back in the mid-90s in the Czech Republic. But only when it was the only pivo at the hospoda.

    Having a Moon Hill peach sour while actively preparing one of my favorite dishes for dinner - angel hair with oven roasted onion and peppers and a good amount of garlic thrown in for good measure. So simple and unassuming to make, but delicious.

    A guy I work with convinced me to get the shot -his wife has permanent ear damage from shingles and constant ear pain that they can't do anything about. After he told me that whole story I got my shot the following weekend. It's definitely not something you want to contract if possible. Cheers Hunter!!

    Without googling, am I correct in my understand that if you previously had chicken pox it makes you more susceptible?

    Yes, it’s the same virus. It goes dormant and can reawaken years later causing shingles.

    My sister-in-law had shingles and it came dangerously close to one of her eyes. She lucked out and it progressed no further so no damage was done to her eyesight.

    50 and over is recommended. Series of 2 shots. Effective for around 7 years? Although one of my younger brothers and my youngest daughter (30) had shingles long before 50.
