California Lagers (2024)

Zapf Pilsner from Almanac and Temescal might be the best American pilsner I've ever had. It's so smooth, so deep, so clean. It's an astonishingly good beer. Put that bitch in 12 packs!

 

Had to take my wife to the SD airport yesterday.....swung by NP in Bankers Hill for a pour. Brought home some excellent NP Helles Lager. I can't figure out (still) how to post pics here so 5 lame points for me.

 

Out of curiosity how much do their lager packs go for at the brewery?

 

I used to live about 10 minutes from where Enegren is now, but it was in the pre Enegren days.

Seems to be a pattern. I'll live somewhere and the beer scene sucks, then I'll move away and soon thereafter it gets a lot better, lol.

 

Ghost Town’s Necropolis has been hitting all the right spots for me these past two weeks. I’d say it holds up well, but I’m all out of it now.

 

These were $15 a 4pk, certainly on the high side.

 

What the hell is a rasenmaher?

 

How was the pub? I need to schedule a trip myself.

 

I work pretty close to Two Coast and have tried all of the available cans, but the timing has never worked out with their hours. Is it worth checking out?

I got to get out to Enegren, I just never seem to have another need to be in the area.

 

I didn’t realize they had the anniversary next weekend, it’s going to be mobbed, but it sounds fun and I like reggae. , I’m really looking forward to trying that anniversary beer, maybe it’s their first attempt at a Pilsner Urquell type lager? I’ve never had an American beer that’s close to PU, they might be the ones to pull it off, but I’m sure that easier said than done.
