Anyone else chasing the Worst Rated Beers list?

If you're a masochist, do what turns you on, I guess.

 

I'm at 17 and hope to never get to 18.

No. But I also try to avoid diseases, bad restaurants, terrible movies, etc. For some reason I actually value my limited time as a living being on this planet.

I’d take two eggs over easy and a cup of Joe from the local greasy spoon over possibly 97% of those beers!

 

My official count is 35. Unofficially I've probably had 10-20 more, mostly in my pre-BA days. TBH, most of the ones I've had weren't nearly as bad as their overall ratings would indicate. (YMMV, of course.)

Out of curiosity—and because others are taking this inquiry seriously (which is fine, it’s a legit question)—I decided to check my actual stats. My original response above stands: I’ve had exactly one beer on the Worst Beers list, Cass Fresh—because I sometimes go out for Korean food and Korean beer is often the only (or at least best) option available at such establishments (and it actually pairs quite well with bulgogi or dolsut bibimbap). I gave it a 2.88, which is a +17.1% rDev.

I find that it’s much harder to rate/review a bad beer than a good beer. It’s much easier to know where the ceiling is in terms of relative greatness than the floor. How bad would a beer that rates 0.00 (or, in our case, 1.66) really have to be? I’m not sure I want to find out—but I suppose I should try a Bud Select 55 once in my life to find out.

 

My memory is too clouded to be able to come up with a number, but I know I've had a lot more than a handful of them over the years. And at #108 is good ol' Blatz, the beer that I cut my teeth on.

 

This seems to be a list of macro beers I tried during college because they were what was cheapest for whoever was hosting the party.

 

One of my cardinal rules: Attend only parties hosted by people willing to spend the least amount of money possible on their guests.

 

It seems I've "officially" had 13 of them. However, quickly scrolling through just the first 100 I can see that the true number is much greater. Because college.

 

Officially reviewed 25 of them , probable have tried at least 75 - 100.

 

I've never specifically chased anything on that list, but I've had the vast majority of them. Just looking through the top 50, I've had all but 5-6 of them. A few of them (like Beer 30 and Sleeman Light) are totally foreign to me. The others are mostly just a mix of light beers, malt liquors, and NAs. Typically they're the ones known to have off notes, although some of them are more flavorless than purely "bad." A few (like Bud Light Platinum and their Rita "beers") I don't mind at all.

 

I’ve had 76 on that list, most were while I was in college (ancient history).

 

Not pursuing it, but have reviewed 10. I'm sure I had several dozen others back when I considered that beer, but I really don't want to relive my youth. It was rife with 'one-time learning experiences'.
