On top at Windsor Homebrew. Love these guys!
Yep, a bit hazy. Muted gold in hue. Bountiful Fluffy head rises two fingers slowly, tapered off. Good retention, abundant lacing.
No almost delivery delivery of lemon, verbena and almost mentholy juniper.
Flavor is more of a delivery of peach and apricot, chewy tangerine rind with a hint of pineapple.
Mouthfeel is a tad fluffy. Perfect carbonation on the lighter side of medium heft.

12 oz can 5/15/24 into a tulip glass.
L: SRM 6 pours a slightly clouded deep glowing apricot color with a thin 1/8" pure white flat head that has VG retention, mild carbonation, medium-thick broken lacing, very light sediment in suspension.
S: Caramelized malts, pineapple, citrus zest, mild organic dankness with warming, no alcohol.
T: Fresh bitter hops, a blend and balance of succulent over ripe bittersweet fruits, citrus, pine resin, a note of melon rind, very light hard candy, a note of pastry dough at the end of a long resinous linger. It is moderately sweet. No alcohol.
F: Brisk then smooth & soft medium to med-heavy bodied feel with a calm center and a long silky lightly drying finish.
O: Wow! Such a wonderfully balanced beer. The blend of tastes is so sublime that it sort of tastes like one big exotic fruit. Absolutely exceptional mouthfeel and drinkability. A light dank note appears over time that adds complexity. Nothing harsh about it. One of the best American DIPAs I've had. It is world-class.

@LesDewitt4beer it is a really nice DIPA for sure. If you have a chance to try their IPA jump on it. It is a thing of beauty, thanks to @ovaltine I got to try them both.

Today I have Von Trapp kolsch. The way I feel about it is ; "They had it there so I'll take it." Let me explain to you all on this new beer weekend that there is not any genesee beer in my wegmans. It's strange and the other beers are also moving fast such that I didn't get my second choice either. I was very happy to see this. I love the style. Best buy date is December of this year.

Last Sunday I tried their Dunkel and I am in love with their Oktoberfest. It had a steadfast presentation in every category. Their list of beers is impressive and I hope to see as many as possible. If you ask me their most astute moment is in the trosten beer, and the smoked helles. I like both the styles and they round out an authentic German beer menu. Happy new beer weekend!

When most people try a good kolsch they can't figure the hype. It's so delicious and easy going. It's great for summer imo. The softer clean nose of some styles of lager don't boast anything too strong but are sensations in malt. You call it big. When a beer has a big malt it sometimes doesn’t peak with strong flavors on the nose but with a sharp definition. The kolsch is substantially breaddy and the style allows you see only a glimpse of its yeast.

This kolsch is breaddy crisp and cool with hops floral on the nose. It has a sweet moment that's from the yeast where it tickles your nose. It's such a looker with a fat white head that falling in rings. The beer has a soft haze.
It drinks just like that with a malt that surprisingly dry and has a firm promominence. The bubble is crisp and it's clean . It has a vibrance from hops. They are floral and grassy and cool. This one is clean in the mouthfeel and you can say you taste the water. It's just 5 percent . Very breaddy. Cheers!

Oh man @utopiajane I cannot wait for Trosten, I really hope it shows up this year. Unfortunately I didn’t see it around this past winter, with the rebrand I’m also curious to see what the new cans will look like

I had to break out two cans out in order to show the awesome back of can artwork.

Poured a 355ml can into a pint glass. A scant one finger bubbly white head on a clear pale yellow. The head soon disappears.

Malt and corn in the nose. A bit thin up front but a stronger finish. Not much hop.

Light body and good carbonation. Overall the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. No faults and a good expression of the style.

Thanks brother. I have had Columbus IPA a few times. This last time I picked up a mix 12er and it was in it along with Bodhi, Creeper, and Devil's Kush. All incredible. I'm very impressed by this brewery. :beers:

Appearance: Clear dark amber, big head, nice foam.

Smell: Dark fruit, red wine, not very strong.

Taste: Pretty neutral arrival, then gets a little fruitiness like red wine. Barrels give a hint of wood. Kind of seems like an English IPA-mostly neutral bread with some fruit hints.

Overall: A long-time want, I saw this on the shelf at the store so picked one up. Pretty disappointed, I was hoping for maybe a barleywine or interesting mix of flavors, instead it was very neutral and nothing stood out. Oh well, it's just beer.

My wife and I saw Joker: Folie a deux last night. Some good scenes, but otherwise not a very good movie. Today we're having lunch with our daughter and grandsons. She and her oldest are going to New York for a week, and the younger one will stay with us.
My new beer for today is Sprout, a fig dubbel from Brewery Bhavana. I had my doubts, but it turned out to be quite good.
The beer is a pretty cherry amber color, with a small tan head that disappears quickly.
Aroma of fig and sweet malt.
Tastes like a fig newton, caramel.
    Medium-bodied.

Lion's Tail Brewing Gourd Vibrations. A pumpkin ale. I really like pumpkin ales. The look is murky honey orange. There was no foam that appeared. The smell is pumpkin pie, spice, apple, vanilla, and honey. Delightful. The taste is pumpkin pie, brown bread, caramel, and vanilla. It has a mild sweetness. It is nice. The mouthfeel is bready, crisp, and light. It is easy-drinking. Today is a beautiful fall day. This beer is a pleasure to drink right now.

Great open this weekend @jonphisher ! Nice you were able to get a great fresh hops beer to enjoy. I searched high and wide for one in Vegas without success.

Hope you bring back a few beer reports from your Yards Oktoberfest @JackHorzempa . Did you see @Beersnake at Windsor Homebrew @2beerdogs ? Such great beers posted by you two yesterday.

Also loved my first go at Bodhi this Summer @LesDewitt4beer , included in a trade by David @DoctorZombies . Seems like Ohio breweries go as far West as Indiana and pass on the Chicago market.

It's going to be hard to top the great Sierra Nevada beers my brother @DTLVTOUR shared last weekend. The first of two Smoked Helles from Pipeworks. This is undated, but was refrigerated by the brewery, was scored for $5.51 for the four pack (received the 8/5/24 Smoke Helles for free at The Dojo!), so just under $0.69 per 16 oz can. Not sure if these are the same exact beer, or slightly different beyond a slight name difference, but they share the same ABV.

Full review linked above. Consistent fresh out of the can and warmed. Not sure when this was canned, or if excess age impacted. What I get is nice bacon dipped in maple syrup with the smoke from a campfire mixed in. Less sweet than it sounds, but still leans sweet. Drinks a bit stronger than the ABV.. Review a bit more wordy, but this synopsis here is still too long for Untappd, which is why I only exist on Beer Advocate and Rate Beer. Will find out if the Smoked Helles tomorrow is exactly or close to the same as this one.

    Cheers!

Slightly cloudy, amber body; nice carbonation; thick head, white, sticky, frothy; rings and flecks of foam cling to the glass. Very nice aroma; sweet caramel and toasted grains. Exquisite flavor; malty and sweet; caramel and light brown sugar; medium-light hop bitterness presence. Medium body; nice residual sugar feel; light stickiness and mildly chewy.

As another reviewer noted, there is s very slight haze or cloudiness to the beer, so likely unfiltered (although I can't find any info on that). Overall, the taste and mouthfeel and fantastic for the beer. It is a real joy to enjoy!
