Bob, I am wearing a T-shirt and shorts in balmy SEPA. Taking a break from washing & waxing our cars in the driveway.
My wife (Kathleen) and I will be there at that same time. Kathleen is sitting down right now coming up with her proposed road trip route as I type this message. I will see how good my negotiation skills are in proposing alternative stops; I know that Hot Springs will be on of the stops.

Maybe we will run into you at Wurstfest?

    Cheers!

Can was packaged 08/28/24. Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A two finger tan head on a clear dark reddish amber. the head sticks around to the end. Lots of fine lacing.

Bready malts smells. Taste follows the nose. Caramel, toffee, sweetish. A moderate to light hop finish.

Medium body and carbonation. Overall a solid expression of the style. Would buy again.

A rare visit this weekend with our 3-yr old grandson that lives 350 miles away. Went on a great hike with him and collected a lot of sticks, acorns and miscellaneous stuff that is special to him (for a few minutes anyways).

I have a few new beers this weekend. Starting off with a new 6.2% IPA from Counter Weight Brewing featuring Alora, Nelson and Mosaic. Must be pretty new becasue it was only entered into the BA database 2-days ago. My rDev does not mean much, there are only 2 entries above me.

Poured from a 16 oz can stamped 10/09/24 to a Nonic at fridge temp. Purchased cold, kept cold.
The body is a hazy bright apricot color. The 1.5 inch head is pure white, thick looking and long lasting. Lacing is generous.
First note of smell is a soft pine expression. Citrus backs this up.
The flavor is sweet clementine, grapes and a little pine. Dryness only comes long after the swallow.
The mouthfeel is soft but light. Carbonation is a little past medium.
For 6.2% this packs a lot in.

Lovely pint. Malt leads but there’s lovely herbal bitterness. It’s balanced and approachable and has that classic fox farm flavor. Lovely pint and great for a crisp fall afternoon.

Now. What can Madrid do here? Cheers!

The beer pours out as an opaque, pinkish-red hue; fairly thin head initially that fades some and gets patchy. A most incredibly aroma of raspberries; amazingly intense smelling; raspberry pie. The taste builds on the aroma; tart and fruity, highlighting the raspberry aspect; pie dough and crust; cherry soda. Heavy body; dense and velvety; outstanding acidic undertone.

It's a rare event when I rate anything a '5', but the aroma kills with this beer. The taste and feel are a real treat. The oats and wheat used in the grain bill certainly add to the exquisite mouthfeel. While not my style of beer, I am glad to have tried this sour smoothie.

Pours a clear mahogany red color, clear, dark brown in the glass; no head but wisps of carbonation bubbles show around the inner edges of the glass. Big dark roasted grain and rich caramel smell; figs and barrel oak peak through the dense sweetness. Huge flavors; notes of caramel, dried, dark pitted fruits; figs; chewing tobacco; anise and raisins; boozy. Heavy body; thick and smooth on the palate; vinous; alcohol dryness offsets the sweetness.

Other than the lack of head on this beer, it otherwise comes across in a beautifully monstrous way. The taste, especially, has some incredible complexity.

...always glad to add another 3 Sheeps beer to my experience...thanks, James...

Jack, it's flannel shirt over regular as it's in the balmy 50s - I just brought the last of my pepper plants indoors so tonight's frost won't get them. We'll be in the SAT area for two weeks starting 5 Nov - maybe we won't meet at Wurstfest but I hear they have one or two brewpubs in the area...I've got your number on my cell phone so I'll get in touch after we arrive. Prosit!

    Garage beer
...very clear light gold appearance with a thin but lasting head
...medium carbonation with a close to medium body which all added up to a nice feel
...aroma is malt, yeast and toast with toasted grain and cereal following. Aroma was stronger and more pleasant than I was expecting
...taste is mildly sweet with grain out front mostly in the form of corn. Finish is oddly dry with a little earthy bitter hops that linger in a nice way.
...perhaps because my expectations were so low im surprised by how much im enjoying it. Its a light beer and does what it advertised but still delivered on flavor, feel, and aroma[IMG]

Before diving in with my selection for today...
Have to admit I feel intimidated by the 20 new to me BA beers, most in 16 oz + format, in my queue. May pick up some lighter singles so I can balance out future weekends.

Going with two undated Pipeworks Barleywines which I believer were released Winter 2024. I picked up several variants / singles during my last stop to the Dojo in August.

Full review linked above. This is very strong from go, thought it would be overly sweet based on the warmed aroma, but OK once I dove in. Still would prefer this be a more manageable 12 oz, as my tolerance is lighter this days. Still glad I tried today, and think they did a good job with this one. See you tomorrow with another Pipeworks Barleywine.

Have a great Saturday and nbw. Me and my wife decided to come to southend bend brewing. Here's a pic we had from last weekend.

I'm having a southend brewing down the rabbit hole gose. Awesome. Aromas and flavors of tart/sour lemon, lime, green apple, mango pulp, white wine, hay, straw, salt, wheat, bread dough, herbal, grass, peppercorn, lacto funk. Med tart sourness and light fruit tang on the finish. Med plus carb and lt med body. Fairly crisp clean refreshing finish. Light pucker factor. Lingering acid drying and light salinity on the finish. Nice pulpy fruit character, spot on base style. 4.1

    Sixpoint oktoberfest
    ...very dark amber appearance
...medium bodied with medium light carbonation and a malt stickiness that coats the mouth
...very subdued aroma but malt is very dominant. Other than malt theres some molasses and dark bread
..taste is more impressive than the aroma with malt still dominating. Molasses, bread and what comes off like ginger cookies.
...its good, somewhat unusual but definitely enjoyable[IMG]

Southend hayride. Great beer. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, pumpkin, allspice, mace, toast, light roast. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, pumpkin, allspice, mace, toast, nutmeg, light roast, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, yeast earthiness. Med pine/herbal bitter and spicy finish. Medium carb and body. Balanced creamy bready malts and sticky spices on the finish. Lingering spicy dryness with no astringency. Very pronounced spice profile over a robust American brown ale. Love it. 4/5

Purchased at distant Binny's, Speedway Stout (2024) aged in Binny's bourbon barrels, actually Binny's/Bartons barrels.
Really nice looking pour, thick'n chewy almost black, a small tan head that's gone in a flash, some lingering bubbles at the edge. Snot maker detects some coffee, chocolate, roasted barley, maybe a bit of vanilla and bit of whiskey. Taste buds get, chocolate, coffee and toffee. Nice creamy mouthfell, a very easy drinker, abv is hardly noticeable.

    500 ml. bottle.
    Bottled October 2022.
    Received a few weeks ago.

Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over a bright golden body in a WB mini teku glass and 5/4 inch white head over a slightly hazy golden body with sticky lacing when the rest was poured vigorously into a stemless WB beer glass.

Nose of slight funk, grape, with a somewhat earthiness.

Taste fairly closely mirrors nose with squash coming through more than the carrots.
Finishing with a bit of pear and grape (from the sherry pipe, I guess.)
    Delicious!

Mouthfeel is excellent, as expected from Vasili, with a bit more than medium carbonation.

Overall, yet another WB offering worthy of your consideration.
If you see it, do not pass it up!!

    Cheers!!!

Brewers notes : Following on the success of Blue comes this treat - Big Blue! Big Blue is an all Mosaic double IPA featuring a mostly pale grist, a mountain of oats, and a kiss of honey malt. It is constructed with a sturdy base to accept the onslaught of hops applied during every stage of the brewing process. We taste and smell ripe clementine, dank blueberry, juicy apricot, and pineapple cream. As a pure representation of hand-selected Mosaic hops, Big Blue is just outstanding!

Hazy orange liquid topped by two fingers of shaving cream , good lacings

Aroma is tropical fruits , citrus , orange, clementines, blueberries

Taste is slightly sweet, blueberries, pineapple , berries

Smooth , almost creamy , 8.4% anv is well hidden

    Good beer
