Good day BAs! Looks like another beautiful day here in the SAT area - sunny and warm! Rapidly running out of days before we fly North - so few days, so few New Breakfast Beers!

Today's NBB: Shiner ¡Órale! Limon from Spoetzl Brewing. An AAL, a style I drink < once/year, but, when in Rome... Actually, pretty decent and cheap at twice the price. The hint of lime elevates it above most AALs, taking it into the enjoyable range. Not quite as good as my memory of the Shiner Sea Salt and Lime, but still decent.

Final impression and summation: 3 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Actually quite tasty for an AAL – the citrus puts it over the top, making it totally drinkable.
Rating 3.26, rDev 0% (First Review) - I think others have reviewed this but misplaced their reviews into the non-lime varient.

Nervous Energy from/at Tree House. Coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, maple syrup. Excellent stout and not sweet like you would expect. They do maple in stouts better than anyone, and I’ve tried a lot…

    Quick comparison.
Peroni Nastro Azzurro, the famous italian pilsener vs The Dutch Grolsch.
Note, the Peroni here in The Netherlands is brewed by Grolsch. 5%.

Peroni: containing corn, fine bubble carbonation, decent head, straw pale, good bitter taste, the addition of rice (Stella Artois) or corn (Hertog Jan) usually works quite well to make these lagers very drinkable. Not a beer to be savioured, but refreshing and good for drinking a few.
Grolsch: 5% abv as well, very simple, standard ingredients, pours a bit more golden yellow, good head, small bubble medium carbonation, better mouthfeel, but some skunkiness. Maybe the hops got bad during storage. Not in my garage though and it seems 3 months younger.

Today I prefer his Italian brother.

    1) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. Bitter finish.
    versus
    2) Arbeiter HAHA Pils (5.1%): A German Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of smooth lemonflower, yeast, and bread. Bitter and full. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

German Pils Battle on this average Thursday afternoon. My two favorites. Fair State has always been the GOAT in my book. Lemongrass flavors with a strong bitterness in the finish.
Next is Arbeiter HAHA. I've been saying how good this pilsner is for some time now, and this year it won Gold in the GABF and MN Brewer's Cup 2024. Very similar to Fair State. Slightly more yeasty, and full. Nearly identical, but I think I now have a new top German Pilsner
    Winner: Arbeiter

    1) WeldWerks DDH Juicy Bits (6.8% canned 10/9/24): A NEIPA from Colorado with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado for flavors of orange, grapefruit, pineapple, and mango.
    versus
    2) Phase Three DDH Spring Road (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with Nelson Sauvin, Citra, & Vic Secret for flavors of orange, white grape, pear, lychee, grapefruit, and pineapple. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner: Phase Three
WeldWerks vs Phase Three IPA Battle. Second post on the first page...I must be at it early today. First is WeldWerks DDH Juicy Bits. A big improvement on their original Juicy Bits. Juicy, citrusy, and bright. Well-done.
Next is Phase Three Spring Road. Some Citra, Nelson, and Vic Secret giving it some vinous grape and strong pineapple flavors. Very nicely done as well.
Difficult to call a winner here, both are excellent.

Not really sure why. They call it a Pecan Pie Imperial Stout Eisbock. I haven’t tried it yet
