Imperial Stout Is Life (2025)

Had an Old Rasputin for the first time in years yesterday, and I don't know why it'd been so long.

 

I brought great shame to this thread last night. I was only able to drink one stout. Apologies to my colleagues. Let’s get to 200 this year!

 

Thread closed on me last night before I could post...first time with this one. Very nice beer with some intense barrel notes

 

Dogfish Head Utopias Barrel-aged World Wide Stout Imperial Stout, 17.3% ABV. I rated this 4.6 back in 2021. Starting cellaruary a month early.

 

Always love seeing the European selections you post. Seems like the label art is usually nicer out that way.

It really ought to be a monthly experience for any American stout fans. If for no other reason then that we can't afford to lose a world class IRS at an affordable price

I wish I had been cognizant enough last night to post the beers that Garth and I had with our bonfire. Several older, a couple newer, and one Porter from 2016.

I think we ended on the Boulevard one, because I don’t remember drinking it. Trolls was far sweeter than I remembered, go figure, 2018 CBS was more subtle but still really good. The Black Gold from BBB was almost peaty, not bad at all, just different from most stouts I have had.

T.O.R.I.S The Tyrant from Hoppin' Frog. Big thick roast beast of beer @13.8% and it's not barrel aged. Small can, small glass.

From the cellar - bottled in 2021. Categorized as an imperial porter — but pastry stout all the way. Held up well - rounded flavors of chocolate/coffee with cinnamon and BB notes.

It’s still “The Holidays” right? Doesn’t matter. And it won’t even matter when I enjoy the last can from this four-pack. Whenever that may be.
