I've never had the pleasure of trying Delicator. I've had Paulaner Salvator and Ayinger Celebrator. Slightly prefer the Ayinger because it does not seem quite as sweet as the Salvator.

Given this I suspect that Delicator may not exactly be a favorite for you.

I discussed Delicator in a past thread:

    “Overall:

This beer is quite good. It is on the hairy edge of being too sweet for my personal palate.”

    Prost!

First time I ever had Salvator I loved it, but after I had Celebrator I began to notice the Paulaner seems a bit more sweet. I enjoy a Salvator every now and then but prefer Celebrator.

That's interesting too, I didn't realize Hofbrau Winter Spezial was the same as Delicator. I guess that means I have had it. It's been quite a while ago though.

Another lovely beer from Germany, Hofbräu München Orginal. Brilliantly clear gold color. Malty with spicy/herbal hops note. Very good, all around beer that's fairly easy to find in bottles around me. And a few bars/restaurants have the draft version frequently. Prost!

Kulmbacher Brauerei (Germany) EKU 28 Doppelbock

33 cl bottle into a short glass in Toulouse, France. €2.89.,,
Headless, except for what looks like a spit splotch in amber brew.
    Nose is malty, caramel, um.,.
Taste isn’t horrible. Comes in strong, dragging the malt violently behind. There’s a port essence to it - some raisin, prune., finishes not as sweet as I expected, due to, I’m sure, the lagering.,. there is a reasonable heat and quick red cheeks.
Feel is almost thick, just enough carbonation.
Overall, a high octane buzz ball that’s all right, at best, big calories, at worst.

    3.86/5 in the BA DB

I lover German beers and there are some good examples made near me (Gold Finger, Art History), etc. But I have never had a great US made Kolsch. Had some good ones but never anything that can really track with the beers in Koln.

I've never had that one. Looks much lighter than even Salvator. Doppelbock is a pretty underappreciated style here in the U.S.

Being in Wisconsin, I'd think you have access to some very good examples of German beers. What about New Glarus? Do they make a kolsch style?

I agree.,. this one clocks in at 11%, so it’s a bit of a beast. I first tried it, like, 50 years ago., and was advised to be cautious. “All that one will do is make you sleepy”, is what my mentor, Naja, told me.,.

Brewed on and off. Not bad, but never had Kölsch in situ so I can only compare to import bottles.

Best US-brewed Kölsch I ever had was Metropolitan's Krankshaft, but they're gone now and I'm not sure Short Fuse (who bought the brand) is making that label or how good it is.

I like Bavarian beer so much that I moved here along time ago and never left. I like seeing all of these fans of beers that I love. Ayinger, Andechs, Aventinus, Augustiner my A's I call them. There are so many more here. It is just nice to see folks liking beers that I drink all the time.

Munich's a (relatively) small airport but if he's got a few hours to kill, the train service into downtown is excellent! To the main train station (in the town center) is about 30 minutes (as I recall), so if he's got a couple of hours layover, it might be worth his time to head down to Marienplatz and hang out.
