2014 Bigfoot. Pours as it always has. A murky orange/brown with minimal head. The nose is somewhat similar to a fresh Bigfoot, but the hops are muted. This is a malty nose with caramel, apricots, bread, and slight citrus peel.

The taste is more reminiscent of a fresh Bigfoot. Hops are clear. Pine forest and citrus peel dominate. Following these are notes of caramel, honey, apricot, and bitter oak. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and it comes across as quite dry. This has aged nicely.

Boon Geuze Vat 108 Mono Blend (2016)

magnificent geuze. Good half an hour out of fridge, even more layered somewhat after warming further. Still some lacing and significant carbonation. Geuze so suitable to age.

2021 Expedition Stout from Bell's. Poured at cellar temp. The nose is fantastic. Similar to fresh. Tons of black licorice, molasses, charred wood, and dark roasted malts. The taste is magical. I might actually call this the sweet spot for aging. I prefer this to fresh, but I don't know how much longer I would let it sit. I do have a bottle from 2014, so I might open that soon to compare while this one is fresh in my mind. I'm getting tar, black licorice, burnt toffee, prunes, molasses, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, raisin, roasted malts, and an interesting earthy note. The aftertaste is on the bitter side. Fairly dry and the carbonation is low. It's a sipper, and she's lovely.

Suarez Domain Fruit Blend 5, 2022

2022 blend, featuring mostly peach flavour, the other supporting character fruit and vegetables lend it a long finish with a superior mouthfeel. Great sipper. Rate 4.04

2016 Oude Geuze from Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen. I bought this when it came out. Pours with lots of head. A relatively opaque orange.

The nose if fantastic. Lemon, funk, sour candy, leather,

The tastes is intense. Very sour, funky, citrus peel, bitter, slight honey, and apricots. Lovely.

Timmermans Lambiscus Blanche. Bottled April 15, 2021.
It's still lambiscus, but its faded on the edges which actually gives it some spunk. Carbonation still there. Light orange colour. Very earthy aroma. Rated 3.71

I've had this bottle of Mighty Oak from Tree House for over 2 years, kept it cold. Pretty good fresh and maybe a little better now.

What bitterness there was is almost gone. I get lots of caramel along with candied cinnamon apples, sweet oranges, mint, and a bit of a lingering oak tingle. Tasting great right now, a victory for aging.

Not unusual to crave a beer I see reviewed here, but your review of this 2021 Expeditiion stoked my desire to have one of those right NOW more strongly than I have felt in quite a while. I too found 3-5 years to be when Expo hits its peak of amazingness.

Equilibrium There And Back Again Raspberry. Stock photo but exactly what it looks like right now. August beer.

Plenty of carb.7 years later glad to find. The aroma is less raspberry than when released, but the delectable mixed ferm. EQ uses has remained full of sourdough, rotted fruit, funk, and earthy/spicy notes while picking up some hormonal bretty notes that make the aroma different but just as good as in memory. Taste is all of the aroma notes, perfectly balanced, with even less raspberry than the aroma held, but all the other notes are balanced well, with the earhy brett notes and rotted fruit ending it well. Glad the carb. held up as it is the key to making this full bodied wild ale light enough to call refreshing. The finish is stellar, different than it was, but clean, fruity, and bretty enough to delight. What a great treasure this beer still is.

2018 BA B-Bomb from Fremont. A gift from @snaotheus a couple of weeks ago. 14% ABV. Poured at fridge temp.

The nose is cola, slight cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla. The cola note is dominant and it's tough to see past it.

The taste largely follows the nose. Getting that big note of cola. Black licorice, roasted malts, light vanilla, barrel char, and some nice dark fruit notes. This really opened up as it warmed.

I've had this beer before at work, but not with as much age on it. Sadly, it has become not fun to drink. I have a feeling my drain is going to drink the rest.

    From a 22oz bottle 2014 release. Best after 02/24/2015

There was a slight hiss upon opening the bottle. The beer is dark amber in the glass. I can see that there's clarity to the beer. What surprised me the most is the thick 3 finger tan colored head. Fluffy and frothy looking, it has very good head retention, and there's some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is deep and rich. I am getting a lot of nuttiness in the aroma. There's wine notes, that, to me aren't pleasing. I do get some hints of dark fruit. I also, sadly, get some wet cardboard notes.
Taste - Well it is actually somewhat mellow up front, which is surprising me. I do get the wet cardboard notes right away. There's a bit of nuttiness and dark fruit that come into play in the middle. The finish is a red wine flavor. Since I am not a wine fan, it is not pleasing to me. Sadly, each sip causes me to lower my rating.
The body is sharp feeling. The feeling of bitterness isn't very pleasing. No alcohol burn.
I have had this beer before, and it was good, but it didn't have as much age on it. Sadly, this beer has fallen way off, and really isn't pleasing to drink anymore.

BCBS 2013-Stock image. September beer. Paired with homemade whole wheat toast with homemade 2025 apple butter, and homemade dry sift hash bong tokes from homegrown 2024 Jack Herer X Northern Lights. It opens in a glass as I do one more toke and write this. Live review.

Glad to say it had a bit of a pop when opened with visible carbonation from pour, but no head. Five minutes later still some bubble activity showing. Hoperful sign. I grabbed some aroma that wafted to me, but now I take first inhales from glass. Mmm. dark and bitter chocolate, thick dark malt goodness, burnt caramel, espresso coffee, spicy and sweet alcohol, and just a light bitter edge that rounds this to perfection. It has aged to a state that the barrel notes are missing, but the flavors remaining have become a perfume that causes my salivary glands to fire with each of five sniffs.

The delectable flavors in the aroma all are present in the taste in the same clean, alluring balance, along with notes of currants. Quite delicious, completely excellent.

Still some carb. to keep this as "light" as possible for this full bodied gem, with a complex finish of char, burnt caramel, alcohol spice and bitter chocolate sweet that is clean, lasting, and begs for next sip. No off flavors in aroma, taste, or finish.. Zero! None!

Sadly this is my last, but def. interested to see how those extant among y'all hold up, as this tastes like it could go forever and just get different and wonderul without damage from time.

And the pairing of hash and apple toast is just amazing! Cheers! y'all!

GarĂșn Icelandic Stout NR.19.4 bottled 2021.
Old school imperial stout. Somewhat edgy. Decent taste. Sherry cask was ok fun. Has really hung in there as a beer, these 14% abv stouts are robust!

Still as flavourful as when released. Thanks Brian for cellaring one for the future, and the future is now. One of their several eyeopening stouts. Port has faded, rye has taken charge.

Excellent review! I wish I had some extant bottles, but finished my last one a couple of years ago. It was still great then, and I'm impressed that it's still great now. I gotta say, Bourbon County back then was pretty incredible, and all of their releases (barleywine and coffee) held up really well with age.
