I guess our ancestors were distant neighbors. My great great...multiple greats grandfather is buried, around 1711, up near what is now the Delaware- Pennsylvania border.

That is really cool, maybe they even came over together; how wild would that be? I’ll try and ask my dad about that last name, small world.

    Good afternoon NBW
Another new-to-me beer from the Sixpoint mixed pack.

    The Crisp

12oz can BEST BY: 10 JAN 26 PBG 25191 poured into a pilsner glass at fridge temp 5.4% ABV. The beer pours bright light golden yellow with off white head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is mild with sweet pils malt and a hint of orchard fruit. The taste is bittersweet pils malt with grassy and woodsy hop flavor. Moderate bitterness. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Cleanly lagered. Overall, very good pilsner.

Hoping to get one more new one in this weekend. Cheers all!

Drekker/Deciduous collab Type 3 Fun NEIPA, 6.5% ABV. Pours hazy golden with a 3 finger white head that left great lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit and citrus. Taste is citrus, moderately bitter, slightly sweet. OK mouthfeel, slightly dry. Overall very good.

Went to church, five minute stop at the grocery store, went for a walk thru our woods so I could say I did my exercise, and done for the day. We have ample leftovers so we don't even have to cook. Dinner will be by Chef Nuke, so football and couch.

    Trying this one:

New Hamphire's Schilling Beer Company's Petrin 11 - a polotmavy lager according to the can, a Czech Amber Ale in the data mine here. It's 4.4% and it's very nice.

Beautiful pour - crystal clear reddish-brown with a half inch of white foam that falls to a pretty cap. The remaining bubbles do lace pretty nicely.

The smell has a nice floral component but it is mostly biscuits and honey. Simple and straightforward.

The taste is equally straightforward - nice, biscuity malt, honey-like sweetness, and just enough floral hops to perk it up just a wee bit. Mild bitterness on the back end and a faint lemon accent after a few sips.

Pushing a medium mouth feel. Kinda neutral on the dryness - right in the middle. The flavors do not linger - it's sweet but not sticky.

Overall, this is a tasty, lower ABV lager that's just right for doing nothing and enjoying a beer. Well made, simple, uncomplicated requiring no brain engagement to decipher. It'll be in the 3.8 range.

Good Afternoon Everyone, and welcome to New Beer Sunday 1081!

Had a new haul post and N/A beer comped yesterday originally planned, but waiting for a response from @Todd for guidance or a Place addition for ALDI America (or just add beers to New Realm, their brewer as others have done) for their Twelve Days of Beer Variety Pack.

In the interim, will go with my last beer from the latest Beer on the Wall haul, before returning to the BA Big Beer Box and aforementioned beers above.

11/9/25 - (Home) (Chicago, Illinois) Can Notes: Purchased a single 12 oz can at Beer on the Wall at store temperature on 9/12/25 for $5.69 including tax. 7.2% ABV. No can date beyond 1:44 PM time stamp; distributed week ending 8/9/25. A rose-inspired mixed-culture ale fermented with local muscadine grapes, brewed with water from our wells and 99% local ingredients. 100% Can Conditioned: alive inside serve cold! Brewed and canned in NEBO, NC.

Appearance: Poured full can into a large tulip glass, yielding a murky pineapple orange juice base, and a brief white head leaving just a semblance of a ring around the rim and momentary carbonation bubble rising to the top. 3.5

    Aroma:
Funky white wine, bold and delicious. 4.25

    Taste:
Consistent with aroma, fresh white grapes, other fruit flavors noted though not added, include cherry, tangerine and peach. Very nice. 4.5

    Mouthfeel:
Nominal carbonation adds slightly to the sweet watery body. Tart, consistent for the style, nice level of funkiness, cherry white wine finish. 4.25

    Overall:
This is a solid wild ale, nice levels of funk and fruit medley based on simple local ingredients of muscadine grapes and local well water. Well done! 4.25

    Wernesgrüner Dark

500mL can stamped 08.28.2026 poured into a becher glass at fridge temp 4.9% ABV per can. The beer pours dark brown with chestnut highlights and khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. Slight lacing. The aroma is mild with vague semisweet cocoa. The taste is bittersweet cocoa and malt with a used dishwater aftertaste. Mild bitterness. The feel is thin bodied, watery, with low to average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, ok, but actually gets better as it approaches room temperature.

    Cheers all!

Clear, light gold color packed with dense and lively carbonation; thick head, white with a semi-creamy appearance, long-lasting. Fantastic nose; light bread crust offset with sweet, fruity esters; fresh pear. Delicate light malt base flavor with a slightly peppery hop taste; biscuit. Light to medium-light mouthfeel; generally lager smooth with a bit of ticklish carbonation on the tongue; light dryness.

A very good lager that really thrives when allowed to warm by about 5 °F or so.

German Festbier Battle. First is Benediktiner. Very smooth, clean, complex and drinkable. Authentic. Up against Weihenstephaner, which is similar, but slightly more earthy and malty notes. Slight preference here.

Day 2, beer 2 of tapping into new beers to me from my mixed case of Treehouse IPAs. (I've had a few of the ones that are not new to me in between). Really felt like a West Coaster as that is a rare find around my parts lately.

Purchased cold three-days ago at Charlton for $18.40/4-pack. Kept cold until severed. Poured to a Nonic from the 16oz stamped 10.30.25.
The body pours out clear gold, approximately SRM 7. The white head is about .75in/18mm on pour and fades to a thin covering with a thicker ring. Lacing is medium transitioning to poor at the end of the session. Although I can see nucleation bubbles in the glass they are at a subdued rate of about three per second, nothing like an effervescent Pils.
The aroma is not strong but there is a detectable resin note.
The taste brings a wallop of pine though with a grapefruit rind background. The finish is very dry and puckering.
The mouthfeel is medium as is the carbonation. Although, the bitterness wants to fool you that there is more carbonation than actually present.
Overall- There are better West Coast IPAs out there, but this is tasty in its own right. I would order it again if I was in the WC mood and it was the only one offered. This one went down pretty fast, I guess that's a sign I liked it.

Good Sunday afternoon NBS/nbw, and thanks to our host this week @Victory_Sabre1973 .
Todays offering is a long time walk by for me, I have no idea why. This year I had a hard time finding it. So glad I did, and will seek it out from now on.

A - Beautiful light copper color, excellent clarity, lasting off white frothy cap
S - Orange peel, pine, sweet malts
T - All the above elements with a more balanced malt thread
M - Creamy and smooth, a hint of bitterness at the close, lovely linger
O - A very good wet hop offering that showcases fresh hops. To think that Sierra can scale this up is astounding to me.
    Very well done

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Swiggers and commentators. My first NBS review today is Disco Fries, a DIPA collaboration between Magnify and Other Half. It is hopped with Citra, Motueka, Nectaron, and Motueka SubZero Hop Kief. Its name honors one of New Jersey's greatest contributions to the culinary arts: Disco Fries, which are french fries covered with melted mozzarella cheese and brown gravy. It is a staple of every real Jersey diner. There is no better dish after a long night of beer drinking. I'm craving them now! For the occasion, I've dusted off my 10 year old, OG Magnify glass.

Reviewed 4 days after canning. It pours a dirty tangerine with a large, creamy, milk-white head and extensive lacing. The fruity nose includes lemon, lime, pineapple, and subtle pine. Its taste is a fine balance of sweet fruit, including pineapple and peach, and tart lemon, lime, and grapefruit, with a good dose of pine sap thrown in and a pleasing herbal spiciness in the background. There is mild, clean hop bitterness throughout. This ale is full-bodied with appropriate carbonation, and it drinks exceptionally easily for 8.5% ABV. Overall, Disco Fries is a successful collaboration between two fine brewers. It is flavorful and an easy drinker for the high gravity.

Opaque, dark brown pour; initially thick, light brown head, recedes to a thin yet lasting presence; nice rings and fingers of foam residue inside the glass. Incredible aroma; roasted grains and nuts, very intense. Huge flavors of milk chocolate, fudge; roasted hazelnuts; grain char and coffee ground bitterness; vanilla; muted bourbon undercurrent. Unbelievable body and mouthfeel; slick and deeply viscous; chewy and oily.

I can't recall how long it has been since I've rated two or more BeerAdvocate beer rating categories '5', but the smell, taste and mouthfeel of this beer unequivocally merit these scores. If the initial head (relatively huge for a big beer like this one) would have easily been a 4.5 (in my book). But, hey. It's the beer and how it impacts you that counts. For me, the incredible density (smell, taste, mouthfeel) and complexity (smell and taste) and a near singular dark beer drinking experience marks this beer as a world-class experience. And, yes, I truly wish I would have bought more than a single bottle of this beer.

Happy NFL Sunday BeerAdvocates. Another epic beer battle. Toppling Goliath vs. Drekker IPA battle. A Mosaic and Galaxy versus Citra and Nelson hop battle. First is Mosaic Mamba. Orange and pineapple from Galaxy, plus tropical berry flower notes from Mosaic. Floral and crisp as usual from Toppling Goliath. Outstanding.
Next is Drekker Metaphase. Orange citrus plus Nelson for bright grape notes. Outstanding and one of my favorites. The Citra and Nelson hop combo is hard to beat, but Mosaic Mamba is a close runner up. Both Toppling Goliath and Drekker has made significant improvements to their IPAs over the past couple of years. Their fresh IPAs often had a lot of hop burn that took about six weeks to settle out, but that seems to be gone now and both of these are drinking better than ever.
