What beer are you drinking now? #4769

Well I’m finally at the end of my Märzen, Oktoberfest and Festbier Tour. In addition to the original 28 brews which included a smuggled case of locally unavailable beers on a pallet from my Florida trip, I added maybe another 6 on top of that. This pushed this project out to around 34-35 beers and well into November. It spanned two web platforms and a month and a half, but it was worth it!

These Oktober beers were from Europe, the East Coast of the US, some Midwest and West Coast variations - all I can say is… I can hardly wait until 2026!

Today I’m finishing with an encore presentation of one of my 2025 favorites, Alesmith Oktoberfest Märzen Lager out of that other Beer Mecca of San Diego, California!

I have to say, for a company with “Ale” in the name, this outfit sure puts out some great Lagers. One of my absolute favorite Pilsners is their Anvil Pilsner. I put it right on up there on the same page as Ayinger Pils, Rothaus Tannenzäpfle, Trumer Pils (their Berkeley production), Paulaner Pils and maybe a few others, including Warsteiner. So it goes with Alesmith’s Oktoberfest Märzen Lager, it is true to style and excellent!

Compare this crystal-clear 5.5% ABV Märzen with some of the semi-flat and murky imposters this year. There’s no comparison! It even says “Aleschmidt” on the can, what a riot! This is excellent! Prost!

Side note: (almost bought the big beer box from beer advocate, but then I remembered, getting items from Halftime before somebody had gifted to us, we would end up running around in the dark, trying to find the truck or going to the UPS facility trying to track down the beer. (Florida(other states?) makes it difficult)but We both work unpredictable hours and there’s no adults at home to sign for it.)

7th anniversary (1 of several styles /beer ) hazy IPA from Tripping Animals . CO 10/21 . They make solid beers ,never really had a bad one from them.

 

Love your posts and musical accompaniments. Listened to a lot of Segar over the years and seen him in concert, but somehow this song has alluded me until your post. Martin House Scary Pecan Pie. Imperial Stout with Pecans, Marshmallow, Graham Crackers, Sea Salt, Brown Sugar, and Lactose. Tastes like a stout with a bunch of adjunct added. It's not bad, just overly sweet.
