    Happy hump day advocates!

As I hinted yesterday, we got some pretty generous people on BeerAdvocate, namely @Blogjackets who on top of a shirt for Nathan yesterday sent me many treats including Sip of Sunshine. Jeez the odds for me to find this here was literally zero so many thanks buddy!

It’s super tasty, at my favorite 8% abv range. Incredibly tasty and its freshness is march 2026 as per the bottom of the can.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! Another drizzly day here on the banks of the Allegheny - but it will allegedly end by the weekend.

Today's Old Breakfast Beer, one of my top two regular, always-in-the-reefer, drinking beers - the photo has mysteriously disappeared:

Have a good Hump Day. I was up all day yesterday because Roxy needed her spay, and had to pick her up in the afternoon. I slept until 3AM. Then I was up listening to a book and cleaning the kitchen and cat boxes.

Yesterday morning I finished up A Man on the Moon: The Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts by Andrew Chaikin: 5/5 Easily one of the best space tech/engineering books I've read. As a mechanical engineer I have been a little obsessed with the space program my whole life. Loved reading the Apollo wikipedia articles and pictures years ago. It does the history of the entire apollo program from the views of the interviewed astronauts. Liked the updated edition with the new afterword from 2007. Bronson Pinchot just happened to narrate it after The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. He did a great impersonation of Charles Duke's southern accent. Personal and tense stories with very detailed technical overview of all of the missions and their problems. Didn't know Apollo 12 was struck by lightning. Also goes over how the previous missions improved the future ones with the mission data. The later missions were super focused on geology and science, so Artemis is likely going to focus on that a lot too. Interesting that the Apollo 1 accident actually helped Apollo 13 from the wiring shielding not short circuiting from the Ice/Water of the command module restart.

During my random OCD morning, I cleaned all the counters of grease. The air fryer really leaks lol. Finishing up now: The Ultimate History of Video Games, Volume 2: Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and the Billion-Dollar Battle to Shape Modern Gaming by Steven L. Kent: 4.25/5. Loved it as much as the first volume that went up to 1998 and pokemon and published in 2001. As with the first one, mostly focused on console hardware. This one only goes up to Wii, but also focuses more on Software publishers than the first one, and goes into those deep histories. The fact Microsoft entered the market had a good PC game history of them. Also includes an Activision/EA history including mentioning the 2nd most downvoted Reddit post about locking out people from characters in Star Wars Battlefront 2. As with the first one: a lot of block quotations from the big wigs in the industry. Lots of interviews. Includes overview of video games adaptations and movies for the last chapter.

Roxy got staples just in case the kids want some nursing. Will have to get them removed in 2 weeks. She is super relaxed and quiet now, she was in heat according to the vet. I have never seen her sleeping next to Boat like this before :joy:

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald 7/28/26 bb date = 1/28/26 canning. Top tier American Porter all the time. Charred and nutty/biscuity malts balanced with earthy/piney hops, and a chalky/resinous drying finish. I need to buy this more often.

    G'day all!

Warmer temps are in store for Casper. Aboot time I didn't have to scrape snow off my car!

I'm sipping on my other can of Fear The Reaper from Original Pattern. Tasty and hides the alcohol so well.

    Prost!

Dang, the pic loaded so freakin fast!

    From a 12oz can. Canned on 09/30/2025

This beer is pitch black looking with no light at all shining through the glass. The carbonation in the beer produces a 1 finger tan colored head. The head has damn good retention, and plenty of sticky lacing on the glass.
The aroma is quite pleasing to my nose. The beer is so full of roasted coffee aroma. The coffee is added on to by dark chocolate notes. There's notes of sweetness that also come through the nose with brown sugar tones. All aroma notes work very well together.
The flavor is mostly coffee. This flavor hits hard, and right off the bat. The coffee flavor does linger, and is added on to on the back with notes of chocolate, vanilla and brown sugar. There's a faint bitterness that adds another layer to this beer on the finish.
The body could be a hair thicker, but is not thin by any stretch of the imagination. There's is a clingy feeling to this beer.
This is a delicious and well made breakfast beer. Totally tasty.

    Happy Wednesday BAs

Kinda a crappy wet and grey weather day here....no walk in yet - ran some errands earlier - and about to start making lunch in a bit....

Whereabouts in PA is this? Poconos, or Laurel Highlands areas, perhaps?
