Was able to snag two of these today at my local store. Wondering on trade value of one. To make that less of an open ended question, ill say that double sunshine and '13 Huna are my top two present wants. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.
The oldest one I've had was 2 yrs, and all of the defining aspects had faded significantly. I don't see this having great trade potential to be honest. That is reinforced by the fact it sits on shelves (sometimes for 5 yrs) in many places. Perhaps you'll find someone looking to fill a vertical. Of your wants, you may be able to get 2-3 Double Sunshine, but Huna will be very tough.
Cool. Appreciate that. I didn't mean to suggest itd be a fair 1-1 with Huna, really just wanted to see if it got me close. Thanks.
This is one that's best fresh IMO. I've had it up to 2 years old a few times and have noticed significant fall-off/fading.
i'd be very surprised if it gets you closer to double sunshine or huna, much less getting either of the beers outright. drink one; maybe compare it to fresh. if you genuinely think it's aged really well and tastes great, maybe try trading it. in general, barrel aged beers don't get better unless 1) they're sours, or 2) the base beer gets better with age, and losing some barrel character doesn't hurt the overall experience, or 3) the beer is so hot with alcohol that it's worth losing some barrel character. just my opinion of course.
