What's the going rate for one of these? I believe they only released them in this format in 2009, or am I mistaken? If so, what sort of trade would it take to get a larger bottle?

You are correct that '09 was the only year for the regular BCBS to be released in the 22 oz.

As far as what it's going for it really doesn't go for anything different than say two 12 oz 09's, IMHO. Depends on what you're offering, but if it can snag a couple BCBS you're definitely in the ball park.

Its kind of annoying that BA shows the 22oz 09 bottle to represent BCBS, but they only did that format that one year. Either way, if I come across some, I'll holla at you and let you know what's up.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to trade for 1x 22oz with 2x 12oz. Heck, I have a 22oz and would happily do that if it were an in person trade.

Well, in person trade shouldn't be too difficult for us, but I don't have any 12oz 09 to spare. If there was something else of interest, perhaps we could work something out.

I don't think the trade value difference is substantial, but you're generally better off with a large bottle for aging purposes, and given that we're talking about a 2.5 year old beer already, it stands to reason that anyone who wants '09 is interested in aging. Point being, I think you are probably in the minority in that you'd rather have 2 small than 1 large 09's. If it were an '11, then yeah, I think a lot of people would rather have the 2 small (self included).

I've gotten both my '09 22oz bottles in BIF on here. Either they were generous senders or there's quite a bit of it floating around in cellars still.

I traded one for a Bramble not too long ago and I'd happily trade one for a BCBCS or Vanilla.

I've given away or traded BCBS bombers for locals more times than I can count, but unfortunately my stash is down to exactly what I want to age. They were easily available until the AB buyout, then everybody scrambled and now they are no more.

Fair enough, we've never received Goose Island bottles here in the Philly area until very recently (no BCBS yet). I cannot imagine it will last long anymore. Not like it does in their distribution area as it is... Sigh.

yeah, the BCBS phenomenon is something i've never seen before. maybe you traders who have been "in it" longer than i have have seen it a few times (i've been into craft beer for a long time, but trading only last 2 years or so).

BCBS used to be a total shelf beer that people generally passed on due to the price, but respected due to the flavor. i'd pick up an expensive 4pk now and then when in boston, but i left untold cases on the shelf (and 2 years ago, the "FT: BCBS, ISO: [what people ask for nowadays]"s would be scoffed at). it's really weird to think that now you probably need to get on "a list" to pick up BCBS. one of the bigger upswings of demand i've seen.

maybe all you whale hunters need to figure out your favorite under the radar beer and buy 3 cases of it(:. we can destroy craft beer yet!

I had a whole case of the 09 bombers that I served at my wedding last fall. It all went in about 90 minutes. I still have a few other bottles in my cellar that I am hesitant to trade because it is so delicious and the new BCBS seems to be impossible to get my hands on when the limited supplies shows up in MN. I would probably take another tasty barrel aged stout for me to give one up. Something like a barrel aged yeti, which I would love to try.

Shit, I would trade the Black Butte XXIII I have for one. That stuff sat on the shelves for months here. I'm sure I can run down to my local bottle shop down the street and get some...

He said he traded his for (3) BB XXIII. That's pretty crazy IMO.

No its the other way around, I got the Black Butte XXIII. He's a great trader that actually put up a ISO with that exactly for trade.
