2009 bourbon county is tasting incredible right now. Personally, the 08 is a bit too fruit forward at the moment while the 09 still has a ton of chocolate, vanilla and coconut with very little heat. I wish I had a case for the cold months ahead.

I 100% agree with your sentiments about 08, but I do think the '10 is drinking the best of the vertical right now.

Not sure, but I can assure you that it is not aged in PVW

Whats the difference in a 2009 bomber vs two 12 oz 2009's? Other than the vessel it' still the same beer, a really good one at that. Still like this brew hot though and fresh IMO aging is way over rated.

Some claim larger format bottles age better. True or not, the 09 bomber I had 2 months ago was one if the best BA stouts I have had. Insane good. Better than Rare right now IMO.

I just cracked my bottle tonight and it was very good, but it got me thinking that 13% may have been the perfect abv for this brew and the 14.5 and 15% abv of the last two year's releases were a bit heavy for my tastes. I hope they do continue to increase it in 2013 and moving forward. I think I would prefer falling back to 13%.

I believe you, obviously where you live you have access to BC stuff, still don't understand why, it all came from the same batch. I dabble, I had a 2007 that was clearly past prime, 2 2008's that were still good, but still IMO going past prime, and a 2009 that I accidentally popped because I didn't look at the labels, thought I was grabbing a 2012. To be honest I didn't notice a difference until I went to find the 2009 and it was gone. Could be how good any bottle is equal to how well it's been stored. I live in an Apt, I don't have a cool cellar, in the dark in a closet at room temp is as good as it gets, could be 3- 4 years is peak max I don't know.

I recently cracked a 12oz 2009 BCBS and it was by far the best beer at a tasting. We had a lot of amazing beers that night, but the '09 stole the show...

I remember back on '09 when those bombers were on the shelf for like 6 months. It is one of the brews that really got me into craft beer, and I haven't landed one since then. :slight_frown:

I had an almost identical experience. Had an 09 bomber about 2 months ago, and a Rare in the same timeframe. That 09 bomber is one of the best BA stouts I've ever had.
