Anyone have one of these recently? Curious how they're tasting. I have yet to have a C&C LF. Potentially one will be involved in a trade.

    Thanks for the input.

Was earlier than 09 but had a C&C La Folie a couple weekends ago that was tasting fucking fantastic.

I had an 07 & 08 in the last month or so... both were tasting fantastic. As in, I didn't think they could get any better.

Nooooo, it's way better now that it's pasteurized to 'lock in the blend'. :stuck_out_tongue: I had the chance to ask Lauren Salazar if she actually believes that, but in a rare moment of social normality, did not.

Ha! I would've gone for it.

I wish they'd do at least a small run of C&C unpasteurized sours again. Le sigh.

Yes, she does. She's obsessed with the beer not turning into vinegar. I would personally prefer she didn't pasteurize, but she definitely believes in it.

However, IIRC Jamie Mastin told me that the bugs are hardy little ***kers and flash pasteurizing doesn't kill 100% of them (something along those lines anyways).

So did they flash pasteurize for la folie '09 and above?

IIRC everything that they did not cork and cage is pasteurized. I may be wrong on that.

Thanks. What about kegs? I've had la folie on tap at NB several times, I think it tastes much different than the bottles I've had. I've only had '09 and above.

I recently did a vertical taste test of 08-13 and every year since 2009 it has less and less oaky wood and sour flavor. In 2009 they both capped and C&Ced. The only reason why they stopped C&Cing La Folie is because they drastically increased production and capping was the only way they could speed up the bottling line to keep up. The only reason why Lauren Salazar tells you to "drink it now and don't cellar it"....is so that you won't be able to compare it to last years when it had 10X the flavor.

More likely she flash pasturizes it because once a week she has some beer dork come in and bitch the La Folie that he "cellared" next to his furnace for the last 3 years taste like asshole. I completely understand where she is coming from.

Or because they increased production (from 30 hectoliter to 500 hectoliters in 4 years) because some beer dork came in to bitch that he was unable to buy a whole case of La Folie 1000 miles from the brewery

Has anyone had side by side the last batch of C&C versus the first batch of bombers any time recently? I am somewhat convinced that a lot of people just like oxidized sour browns, so they will still probably like aged bombers.

How did the Capped versions hold up overall? I understand it is nothing like the C&C, but curious how they are doing.
