I've picked mine out but still have to rate 101 beers first. It will be 21 years old by then. Stay tuned.

If you've got a bottle of something great you've been saving for a rainy day, this is a good excuse.

I'd also make a point of drinking a few beers that you've come to regard as classics or hold a special place in your heart. Is there a certain beer that sent you down the road to eventually ticking 1000?

Do people really count beers? I must have missed the instructions on the hobby that required homework and data collection....

Being from VA, you know my recommendation would be a VA beer. Try Hardywood or Stangeways.

Whatever you want it to be, dude. It's all about you. Don't overthink it, just go for it, whatever you have a taste for when you decide to do it. ENJOY!

Make it a beer that's somewhat meaningful, maybe from one of your favorite breweries, or a favorite style.

Hah, nice thread. I'm at 960 since I started keeping track (but I'm probably around 1500 in total).

But, I'm going to try to figure out a good one to open when I hit my 1000th documented beer.

How do you know hes a ticker? You don't. The only thing that makes this site shitty, is stupid comments like yours. Take my list for example,(225) I am 43 now and started getting into craft beer around 1994. I could add so many more beers to my list but I don't. I could add a ton of Sam Adams beers to my list but I really do not remember what they taste like. Petes Wicked Ale, is another example of my early intro to the craft beer experience, cant review it because it is retired. I did not start reviewing beers until months in after joining this site, now I just reviews the new beers that I can get my hands on. Oh yes, lets not forget about about how many Three Floyd's beers I have not reviewed  I must be a ticker
