I'll let you know about 750 beers from now. Hey, there's six packs of Bells 30th Anniversary all around town that are going to do nothing but collect dust for the next year. How would that be for my 1000th beer, guys?? Yay or nay?

Your favorite that over the years have escaped reviews for some unknown reason other than it just has been too darn long and you had too many.

I am coming up near 1000 beers and at the moment I feel I would bring out a beer I am aging but have not tried. Good luck on your next 1000!

Are you familiar with the 1,001 books (i.e. 1,001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die, 1,001 Movies You Must See Before You Die)? There is an introduction by author in one of the books (the Paintings book, I believe) in which the author states that he used 1,001 instead of 1,000 because 1,000 sounds finite/concrete, as if 1,000 paintings (if I'm right) strikes someone as the best 1,000 paintings ever and that's it. 1,001, per author, struck him as here are 1,001 paintings one should see and there are plenty more to find on your own.
Consider that a long-winded, slightly incoherent way of stating that your thousandth beer will be followed by 1,001, then 1,002 and so on (at what interval depends on your drinking habits), so it's not a big deal so just drink whatever you're in the mood for.

Pick out a classic you haven't had yet. The two I'm trying to track down for myself are westy 12 and dark lord.

I'm playing catch up on BA, so over on RateBeer I had the same question for #3000...I had a bottle of Firestone Walker XVIII anniversary in the cellar. It was truly momentous and worth the wait.

Glad I could "help". If it matters, I can't even remember my 2,000th brew yet alone numero mil (that's the extent of my bilingual abilities). Just have a good brew and a good time, and of course be safe (I got a kid so I have to say that).

What did you end choosing as your 1,000th beer?

And the winner, after finally remembering what that one beer I wanted to try was... Mother of All Storms by Pelican Brewing. Pricy, but totally worth it. The best English Barleywine I have tried yet. Poured into a large snifter. Deep and dark with reddish hues, it didn't let any light through. Huge bourbon sweetness and toffee on the nose. Almost looks flat the head is so thin, but is lively enough to crisp up the finish on this syrupy beast. Flavor is massive, with bourbon, toffee and caramel, molasses, and enough hop character to round off the density into a profile that's scary good, and drinkable. I highly recommend!

And like yours, some old guy who gets butthurt over apparently being indirectly called a "ticker," which the other guy went out of way to say isn't a bad thing/isn't an insult. What a dumbass thing to get worked up about.

As to the OP, my experience is that when you try to make a big deal out of some round number, you usually end up trying to force things and it often doesn't live up to your expectations. You'll likely remember beer #684 that you shared with a buddy or two on a great night and didn't have any preconceived expectations for more fondly than beer #1000 that you tried so hard to make awesome.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot and didn't read the most recent post. Glad it was a good one.
