If you had an opportunity to purchase a full, untapped 6th bbl of BCBCS....should/would you?? Personally, I couldn't tap it, I don't even have a tap setup any longer, so lets assume it would only be for trade.

Thoughts on value and whether it would even be worth messing with?

Let it go to a bar or other venue where multiple folks can enjoy it. Don't just get it to trade to your benefit. The "value" is exponentially higher when many folks have access. I understand that I am making some assumptions here, but the info provided doesn't offer much.

I would not buy it for trading purposes, wouldn't want to deal with shipping it. To tap in my garage? Doubt I'd be able to say no.

Value? How much did it cost? Depending on the cost it seems like it may be more of a muling situation where someone agrees to pay for it plus shipping and perhaps agree on a few beers for your services. If its a couple hundred dollars it may be hard to find someone willing to give up that much beer $ wise or rarity wise.

I obviously have no idea, just a thought.

Super Bowl would be pretty fun.

BUY IT. Trade it in person if you must. Or, find someone with a kegerator, invite 20 friends over and have an awesome party. Do not turn down a barrel of BCBCS. Don't even consider not getting it.

Super bowl idea is good, but I don't have 20 friends that would enjoy it. I have no idea on cost, and to clarify I was definately not looking to sell it for a profit, but trade it or "mule" it I guess, finders fee would be beer only I'd think...

I would personally buy it (I have a kegerator) and would invite many people over to share it with.

I'm sure I could beg/borrow/steal a kegerator for long enough to tap it, but I seriously think it would go to waste here, I just don't know enough people who'd enjoy it, and my wife and I have had all we could drink of it for quite a while now.....

Yeah, I don't know that many people that would appreciate it either but 1/6 of a keg is 40 pints I believe. I realize the ABV is high but I bet the few people I do know plus a few "on the fence" types would get it done. Basically, I would be spending a shitload of money to make myself and a few others very happy.

Hell, Dallas isn't known for having great BA tastings, they're almost non existent but I bet if I advertised I had a keg of BCBCS to share, people would show up and be very grateful. In matter of fact, that's exactly what I would do assuming it was financially feasible. I've had small tastings at my house but for this I would open my doors and have a big BA tasting with BCBCS as a bonus on tap

Would buy. Would trade. Would sit on it for four years. Maybe by then Cutler and Marshall will have some help on offense and I'll have a real reason to tap it.

Would you be buying the keg itself or just the beer in it? If you don't own the keg itself, I think it would be very morally dubious to trade it away

Buy it for sure. Don't trade the whole thing away, but rather do some growler fills for trade, if you don't feel confident that you can consume it all. I personally would love to trade you for a growler

Absolutely buy it. I would store it in the basement, tap it, drink it everyday.

And when it ran out, mourn for the good old days...

I don't even care for BCBCS, but would buy it so I could have it at a superbowl party.

There are pictures somewhere of some '09 BCBS keg stands from a Detroit tasting about a year ago. :grinning:
