On a scale of 1 - 10, how bad of a time would I have? lol I turned a mini fridge into a fermentor, and kegerator. I'm fermenting a 5 gal batch of Scotch ale. I barely have enough room for a 1 gal carboy on the compressor hump. I have a couple 1 gal batches to get rid of. .... can I do it if it's going in a blow off tube?

You have a 5-gallon bucket/carboy in your fermentation chamber, plus you want to put a 1-gallon container in there too, and it has a blow-off tube? I'm confused.

I've never used 1-gallon containers to ferment in, but it seems like you should be okay with a blow-off arrangement. Will that be scotch ale too? What is the OG of that beer?

Just use a blowoff tube for a few days until fermentation calms down a bit. Typically by day 5 I'll replace the blowoff assembly with a regular old airlock.

As of right now, I have a 5 gallon batch of scotch ale fermenting. I have a couple 1 gallon kits (stouts) that I'd like to ferment. It would be nice to be able to ferment one of the one gallon kits at the same time as I am fermenting the 5 gal batch. The question at play is, would this make a big mess? There is not much room beyond the 1 gallon mark in the 1 gallon carboy. So, I will probably have some krausen blow off. Could I contain it using a blow off tube into a small half liter bottle? Or is this just a bad idea?

Between the potential for mess and the volume of the one gallon batch you risk losing to blow off I can't see that being a good idea. Might be ok if you have some fermcap or you can leave behind most of the trub in the kettle.
