4th time to NYC, have done all of the touristy things. I have only one night. Here is my plan. Thinking of dropping in for 1 beer per bar to check out a lot of different spots. Any of the bars below offer a custom "sample rack"?? That would be ideal in order to try a lot of beers without drinking too much. Thoughts?

Hotel is near World Trade Center

1st stop -- pick up bottles to bring home from TOP HOPS, walk to NEW BEER DISTRIBUTORS for more bottles, stop in for a beer at ONE MILE House Bar.

2nd stop -- Greenwich village for a slice of pizza from Joe's and one from Bleeker St. Stop in BLIND TIGER for a beer.

3rd stop -- area around THE GINGER MAN, RATTLE N HUM, and maybe RESTO/CANNIBAL if time on my way north to do Top of the Rock (again time permitting) and Time Square (will stay for about 5min). May go up to Central Park West near 72nd to look around.

If there is time/haven't had too many -- may go by McSorley's (have been so realize there is only light/dark Pabst beers) but see PROLETARIAT near there.

Next morning -- salmon bagel sandwich from Russ & Daughters on way to airport

Any suggestions for changes?? Everything is in Manhattan for time purposes but did see a shop in Brooklyn that according to beermenus had quite a nice selection. I just don't know if i want to spend 2hrs of my 8-10hrs in the city doing one round trip to Brooklyn.

    Thanks BA's!

Agree with @Kanger, no reason to visit McSorley's, it can get ridiculously crowded too.

Nice map! Do you know if any of the spots allow a "pick your flight" type of thing? I'm a little spoiled with a bar nearby with 180 taps (most American taps in US) but you can pick 4 and do a custom flight which is a good way to get to try a lot of different beers vs ordering pints of everything.

Yeah it really depends on the bar. I think Top Hops and Blind Tiger do flights, but I can't remember what other bars offer flights off the top of my head.

I would abandon everything after the 2nd stop and stay below 14th street west to east.

For the 1st stop - From TopHops you could walk over to WholeFoods Bowery then down to New Beer.

If you go shopping at Good Beer (right near Proletariat and a Barcade location worth checking) they do offer flights.

Ginger Man and RNH do flights, but not during peak hours I believe.

If you're going to Joes/Blind Tiger, you might as well stop in Carmine St. Beers which is right nearby

Better beer bars or why would you stay below 14th?

Because for most NYC folk, leaving their neighborhood is the equivalent of a ten-hour drive for people living elsewhere. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is the Manhattan selection at a bottle shop less than in say Brooklyn? Checking some beermenus pages it looked like the one i found in Brooklyn was sitting more "rare" stuff but not seeing anything similar when checking the NYC stores

One Mile House also does flights. Bartenders are plenty knowledageble, especially Megan

Plan sounds pretty solid. As stated before, check out whole foods beer room and new beer. They're on the same street just like 8 blocks apart. Make sure you check bottling dates at New Beer, you'll find ancient IPAs there. Other spots around one mile house and top hops are coopers craft, fools gold, good beer, and alphabet city brewing co. Pony Bar and Kiabacca are also next door to each other and good to check out. Also use beermenus.com to find specific beers, any places worth going update almost daily.

You can get flights at One Mile House, Top Hops, Ginger Man, and Rattle N Hum. What time are you starting? It looks like you are taking on too much. Too much beer, too many areas, and you'll be carrying bottles the whole time. Don't go to Brooklyn. What are you interested in buying/drinking?

Are you referring to Brooklyn's Fine Fare? Keep in mind that store is notorious for muling local beer releases and jacking up prices, in addition to setting absurd "ransoms" for getting some of the "rare" stuff you seek. For example--1 bottle of KBS can be acquired if you purchase (4) 4 packs of regular Founders.

It was Urban Market. Beermenus is showing they're carrying FW Sucaba, BCBS, BCBBW, DH 120min, CW BB BW, KBS, etc... I'm thinking it could be wrong? BCBBW still laying around NYC? Maybe you get more than we do but our BCBS, etc sells same day and is never to be seen again until next Black Friday. KBS is $25/4 here but listed for $14 a bottle. CW BB BW is 13.99/4 but 23.99/4 there. Could just be what to expect in NYC i guess but BCBS/BCBBW $24-25 like here. Know anything about this place? Mostly interested in Sucaba since i have all of those others in my "cellar" (basement)

Plan would be to bottle shop Top Hops/New Beer Distributors/maybe Whole Foods and then drop that stuff off at the hotel. If i did a flight at Top Hops/One Mile i'd be 2 beers in. Drop off bottles and go to GV for pizza and one more at Blind Tiger. If i do the Top of the Rock (learning toward no since i've done it before), Central Park, etc that'd kill some time and wear off some beer. Then when it's dark go to the area near Ginger Man/Rattle N Hum. I def wouldn't stop at all of these places or i'd be smashed and run out of time. Nothing in particular i'm wanting to try/buy besides good stuff i can't get around here. I most just want to roam around NYC checking out different neighborhoods/beer bars

Top of the Rock = Rockefeller Center

STATEN ISLAND FERRY (never heard of them)

Also if you know of all the other places in NYC and haven't heard of One Mile House you'll be doing yourself a favor by checking them out
